Relaxing video, thanks for posting. I've done that trip a few times. Nice to see that Contessa X31 train too which is a common sight in southern Sweden and Denmark. Since you are traveling in first class I also believe a hotel breakfast is included in your ticket upon arrival in Stockholm? At least it used to be a few years back. If you take the train in the other direction to Malmö you are unfortunately unable to sleep an extra hour after arrival. It only works one way. Good to know.

You're right! I had breakfast at a hotel near the station, as you said, it was included in my ticket. The train attendant gave me instructions of how to get there. I also traveled with the night train back to Malmö but I didn't know that you couldn't stay one more hour sleeping. Thanks for your comment, it's a very important information that will surely help other travelers! Pinned! I hope you enjoyed the video and I invite you to subscribe my channel!

Nice Trip Report! 😉 The train at 0:58 is an Alstom Coradia Nordic operated by Skånetrafiken, the regional public transport company in southern sweeden. The trains as well as their network are called pågatåg(en).

Thank you for explaining! I was curious to know what train it was! Skånetrafiken is a private operator or is also state-owned as SJ? I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I hope you subscribe!

@@marcostrain For Skånetrafiken, it is a bit more complicated. It isn't an actual operater, but as the public transport authority of the skåne region, it is part of the government. Skånetrafiken organises the whole public transport in this region, including busses and pågatåg services, and uses the same livery (either in blue or in green) for all vehicles. For the operation of the Skånetrafiken lines, private companies are authorised, in the case of pågatågen, it's Arriva.

The reason there are staircases but no doors on some carriages is because the employee can stand there when the train sets are being coupled and "built" together.

That purple colored train is produced by Alstom. In Sweden we call them the X60(X61, X62). They are commonly used in regional routes. The X60 family is capable of reaching 160km/h, which makes them perfect for shorter trips. I live in Östergötland where they have the same train. They are very spacious, even more spacious than the SJ X2000 first class. (Edit: However the first class seat on the X2000 is surely more comfortable for longer distance) The X61 in Östergötland has toilet, which is awesome, however the SL X60 Pendeltåg does not, despite the fact that the SL Pendeltåg has a longer maximum travel distance than the Östgötapendeln I have been in the cabin of the Regina/X3000 train, and also the X61 cabin. I find the X61 much more beautiful, and spacious inside the cabin. The driver-seat is much further to the windshield compared to the Regina train. Lastly, it felt unbelievably cool and powerful when sitting in such a huge and tall cabin in the X60!

Hello and thanks for your comment! In effect you can partly open the little window for fresh air. However, you also have an air conditioning system in the room to cool the space. I hope this helps you and I invite you to subscribe my channel!

@marcostrain
@marcostrain 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Ivy. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I invite you to subscribe my channel. 😄 The fares are different depending on the train type and the advance with which you buy the tickets. Besides the night train there are also high-speed trains operated by SJ during the day. You can check the prices and purchase your tickets in the Swedish Railways official website: sj.se. I hope this helps you!

At what time did you arrive in Stockholm?
@marcostrain
@marcostrain 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Italo! I have checked the tickets of my trip. On the date I traveled (in November 2019), the train arrived to Stockholm at 05:55h but SJ allows to be until 7:00h on board. As the train arrives very early, if you travel in first class, as I did, SJ provides complimentary breakfast in a hotel near the station. You also have access to the SJ Lounge at both stations, before the departure and after the arrival. I hope you enjoyed the video and I invite you to subscribe my channel!

Im going to Stockholm Soon from Malmö with 3-4 people and i have plans to take the train. what can you recommend? night train or x2000? And of course its 1 class we gonna Travel. Btw nice video new subscribe from me
@marcostrain
@marcostrain 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Youssef! Sorry for the late answer. 🙌 I'm glad you liked the video and subscribed! Both trains have very good first class product. Your decision should depend on the time you have and how you organized the trip. In my opinion the best option is the night train, you arrive in Stockholm early in the morning ready to enjoy the day (and you also save a hotel night.) Obviously travel with the X2000 is cheaper and faster but, as I said before, it depends if you want to make the most of the time or you aren't in a hurry and are able to spend four and a half hours on the train. I'm looking forward to hear how your trip was! 😄 Greetings from Spain, Marcos.
