I went from Graz to Milan in the OBB standard cabine but anybody woke me up to see the passport. I slept all night like a baby. Those cabins are really comfortable.

I work in southern Bavaria (Reit im Winkl to be exact - the next bigger City is Traunstein which this train is crossing) and when I go home to Leipzig (Germany) I go by train and there I change trains in Munich everytime. In Munich I have over 1 hour for the changing. I sometimes walk across the station's platforms and look what kind of trains are there. I've seen this Nightjet once or twice when it's ready to go back to Venezia.

You can book the 6 seat seating compartments for private use. So without any strangers. When you pull the seats together, you´ll have a lying surface.

Very nice night train sleeper report going from Italy to Germany what type is your mobile stabiliser I am thinking of buying one for doing videos because I do hate it when I film when walking or on a shaky veichle and the video ends up shaking too

Hi Daniel! 😊 For recording this video I was using the DJI Osmo Mobile 3 stabiliser. I used it for the first time on this trip. It works great but I had problems with the software, I had to update it very often and it take a long time. 👎 After the trip I took it back to Apple because of those problems. Greetings! 👋

I'm going to germany from australia. thinking of flying into rome and taking this train to get to munich. Reckon it's worth it instead of just flying from rome? I know i'd miss out on a lot of the italian scenery since it's traveling at night but I'd see some of the austrian scenery in the morning

At 5:05 you can see on the bottom of the coach “D-ÖBB” labelling instead of A-ÖBB that stands for Austria. Why are the sleeper coaches registered in Germany?

My answer is not at all official, but I understand that much of OBB's Nightjet rolling stock is from the discontinued, German "City Night Line". Perhaps OBB financed their purchase or leased them in Germany and therefore the titles remain German for now.

Beautiful train for the most part but just to nitpick a little...those knobs on the temperature control were gross. They need to be replaced.

What time does it arrive in Munich? Is there a restaurant /bar on the train?

Hi Adam! The train arrives in Munich at 6:10 in the morning. There is no restaurant or bar on board but the breakfast is provided to all passengers except those traveling in seating compartments. Thanks for asking and I invite you to subscribe to my channel! :)

It's a bit annoying to have to get up at 4 a.m. to show your passport to the border police. I guess not all travelers come from the Schengen Area so the police check the passports from all travelers. I have no idea.

You can buy your tickets at the station but keep in mind that people make the reservation with a lot of advance and the train will be probably full if you want to book the same day you travel. As your train will cross a border, you will need to follow the restrictions of the destination country. As of today, all travellers entering Germany have to provide a negative test result, proof of full vaccination, or proof of recovery, independent from where they arrive. If you are an European citizen, the EU Digital COVID Certificate is valid to enter the country. You can find more information on this website: reopen.europa.eu/.

marcostrain I caught the Nightjet from Vienna to Zürich last year and all of the passengers passports were taken (along with their tickets) at the start of the journey and returned in the morning. We were told it was incase the Swiss border agents were checking them during the night. That definitely seemed like a better solution than waking everyone up!

Yes, it's a bit strange. Possibly not all travelers on the train come from the Schengen Area so the border police check all the passports for prevention. I have no idea about the real reason.

Italy has been one of the main gateways to Europe for african immigrants. That is the main reason. Germany is a popular destination for people seeking a better life, and many go even further north to the Nordic wellfare states. Of course, neither Germany or the Nordic countries can afford that, so they have to control who gets in. It is similar on other popular refugee/immigrant routes. During the large refugee crisis in 2015 I was on the train from Budapest to Berlin. Once we reached the german border, the train was searched by the police, and many Syrians who had fled the refugee camps in Hungary were taken off the train.
