Using Frequency Math Channel To pinpoint sensor drop outs

In this video, Matt Shanahan demonstrates how to utilize Picoscopes frequency Math Channel to pinpoint the location of dropouts during a long time-base (deep recording) of a vehicle speed sensor. You can see in the waveform how condensed the pattern appears during this long time base capture and dropouts may not easily be seen. The math channel finds these dropouts perfectly. Cuba, I haven't seen you using a pico. Which pico do you have? I just bought the 4425a, I've always been a computer geek so this was a no brainer for me, I always wanted scanners that work with computers due to the flexibility of a PC but then tablets came up and I stopped using PCs for scanning and looking at data. I still have the Autoenguinity but it sucks compared to the Launch or Autel.

Is this feature available on non automotive Picos? My use for this capability would be Building Automation Controls, Frequency Drives and Commercial / Industrial chiller applications. My employer wouldn't allow me to purchase the automotive version.

Hoopty_ Medic I believe math channels are available on any Picoscope 6 software. I have used them on my 8-channel that uses the non-auto software. HTH, happy scoping!

Very kool vidio...can all sensors be checked with a graph frequency...if not how does someone know ...just trying to learn...thanks in advance

Eri Ginez sort of. For instance, a VRS crankshaft position sensor typically has a missing tooth which you will see in the frequency math channel HOWEVER if there is any other abnormalities in the pattern you will see a non rhythmic "blip" in the math channel.
