So true. A few years ago I tried to get my CDL from Prime Inc. it was a mistake. I drove all over the interstates for 2 months but my trainer didn’t care to properly teach me backing skills. On the exam I had parallel parking and failed. All he cared about was to make money from his LP. I tried again this month with a local school here in Georgia which provides 3 weeks training and passed. I had straight, Offset right and alley Dock. Key to Offset and Parallel is to practice with reference points until he becomes easier and for alley dock is to know how to adjust whether you come early or late to the entrance and patiently do as many pull ups as needed( within the points allowed) until you are straight with the box. You also have to avoid trying to adjust from the right side( boundary) or you will trap yourself out of the box.

I think the trainers should be tested on the pad so they do know how to train.

Right ON! To many CDL Schools don’t even train their own instructors how to teach. Yes the CDL instructor knows how to drive but doesn’t know how to teach. Trucker Steve CDL instructor on you tube. Many of my videos are tips on how to a skill and how to fix a problem.

No but they have tanker which you can start with and get Hazmat later. Now you have to go to school for it but it’s just 6 hours of watching videos.
