Couldn’t be happier to see him as the cohost. I’ve been following him for like a decade and he’s outlasted and outperformed almost everyone. I’ll never forget seeing him do sets of clapping pull ups at like 330lbs.

I´m a newbie to the weight room in my 40s and I want to start weight training. Based on a recommendation I want to do concurrent and conjugate. I did some research and I purchased the westside book of methods program. Unfortunately, this book is not for beginners, that’s what others told me on different forums. Do you guys provide a program for the average regular person who want to become more muscular, stronger and more athletic? I want want to show support and appreciation that´s why I don´t want anything for free. Where and how can I purchase a beginner program I can start with, from scratch to build a base? Any guidance is much appreciated

Start with working up to top sets of 8 for about 4-8 weeks on “Max Effort Days” and then use 5x5s for “Dynamic Effort Days” and try not to exceed 75% for at least a couple cycles. Avoid Bands, and Chains, and realize that you need to be using lots of reps and 3-4 sets minimum for 2-3 accessory exercises each session. I also would just direct message Burley Hawk as he is usually taking on new clients.

If you’re in Houston your welcome to join our Barbell Club: its inspired by how westside trains and is coached by westside educated coaches. We have specialty bars, power racks, plus a complement of machines found in a high end gym.

They have podcasts explaining dynamic and max effort lifting. Tom explains it so it’s simple to follow. Jim Wendler has a PDF somewhere with a basic conjugate program and EliteFTS has a bunch on their website you can follow.

You guys should video a full workout. Uncut, no edits to help people understand the pace and dynamics of a good. Training partner plus the westside accessory volume

Everybody is talking about the positive benefits of conjugate periodization for powerlifters and wehen working with athletes but what about using the conjugate method for the general population or someone like me who´s not an athlete, just a meathead? I would love to see a episode for guys like me, normal people. I want to build or need to build a foundation of muscle and like the other guy said I also want to increase my strength and be able to express some speed and power because that is the quality we loose the most as we age and I want to have a base level of conditioning. I also would love to see a well rounded program that include some strength work, some hypertrophy work, some speed and power, some jumps, some general conditioning, basically a mix of those qualities

How do you all approach strenghtening the bottom of a lift. Bands increase strain and load at the top, but always seem to make it lighter in the bottom, leaving the bottom part of a lift not being touched as much with heavy barbell weight. Perhaps accesory movements to strengthen the bottom part of a lift yes. But it seems with Conjugate there is minimal barbell work done in the bottom portions of the squat and bench, leaving those muscles weaker in the fully lengthened stages.

If you feel the need to do straight weight more often or free squat more often, you should do it. No one responds to eveyrthing the same.
