I have two children with autism, and just wanted to reassure you after listening to you talk about Sophie. Both of my children regress almost constantly, both of them don’t seem to retain information at the time but then will say things much, much later similar to you talking about the swimming costume private parts. I home educate both of mine now and they’re super duper happy, I know it’s not for everyone but genuinely they thrive, we go swimming all the time, cooking/baking, money, shopping, library etc. good luck to you Both x

Also, regarding the technology side of things, we have to be so careful with what they watch as it affects their behaviour almost instantly. We’ve taken iPad off of them now and they’re so much calmer with less meltdowns. And we just limit films etc xx

I'm a mum with a special needs 17year old daughter. She couldn't read or write until year 5 when i finally got her in to a special needs school they were amazing . Then she had to leave to go to a special needs college which o struggled with so much they are great but i wish she could of stayed at school 😢 She will be in her 2nd year of college and the last year. My daughter has struggled with the holidays she hates being around other people she only wants to be at home it's been really hard. Sophie is great hope you find the perfect school ❤

Hi I’m a teaching send assistant I think Sophie should of had a one to one that will benefit her so much. Because they focus just on the child and there needs and set targets and make activity’s just for her ❤

Awww Sophs. ❤ I'm sorry to hear her current school isnt quite right for her😢 it does frustrate me that even some sen schools are more interested in the children's academic abilities. Yes, it's important, but what is more important is the individual child and reaching their potential whatever that is, and unlocking what they are good at by getting to know that child and their interests. Social and life skills are just as important for children to help them navigate this world and become as independent as they can be, however that is for them. Sophie doesn't seem like she's taking her learning in but in small chunks, repetition and a multisensory approach she will be. It's about improving her working memory. I'd love to 1:1 Sophie. There are quite a few sen schools in Surrey, so I hope you find the one that suits Sophie. I don't know what her main need is, so I can't pin point you in the right direction. Have her school given you some support and suggestions? If I can help in anyway, let me know. 😊😘 xxxx

Would Sophie benefit from audiobooks? She could listen to Harry Potter maybe? It will drown out noise when she’s over stimulated but takes away from iPad time and also similar enough to films? xx

have you ever looked into ABA therapy for sophie? they do 1 to 1 in school and at home and it is usually for children with autism but the main aim is to help the children to catch up developmentally and learn independence skills as well as academics, so it may really help her! it’s a positive technique and based on reinforcement

absolutely not. ABA therapy is like gay conversion therapy but for autistic kids.. its disgusting and shouldn't be allowed.

ABA therapy is extremely controversial and should be looked into massively before any decision is made. As someone in the autism community, a lot of us feel it’s almost like it’s trying to “fix” someone with autism rather than help. It’s like forcing them to be “normal”.

As a mum of a child who has LD, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and autism, I feel you. We shouldn't have to fight so hard for our children to have basic needs met. We will though, we will always fight. I've always said a I don't care what callum does. As long as he is happy, that's all I care about.

My 4th birth was the best out of the 4, not just because it was a homebirth but because my midwife laura was also like yours for maddie , she was fantastic and let my partner take the lead she was literally in the back like a cheerleader and was fantastic my full pregnancy too she was my advocate and was a God send. Restored my faith in midwifes again lol xx

I had the best lady for my birth who was literally a double of my mum. She was on break when she heard I was being rushed to have an emergency c-section and she stopped her break just to be there for me. I do truly wish I could meet her again one day.
