Law fair is the best way to do it in fact as you can literally meet many lawyers at different firms at the same time, so definitely include that in your applications1

I heard that some firms are ok with that, but also heard that some firms may think candidates are too lazy and don't even be bothered to write proper paragraphs (so I personally prefer writing a paragraph!)

I think you should present yourself as a proactive and passionate person. Building connections with the people there. In later applications, you shine explain your experience at that firm in details to show your understand and interest!

In regards to the cover letters, is there a specific way to structure a cover letter because I was wondering if some of my rejections of VCs stemmed from a poor cover letter.
