Loved the stuff at the end. I think it really boils down to arrogance. If you look at the history of science and man's quest for knowledge, it's pretty repetitive. It's replete with examples of hubris. In its current form, people mistake science as a method of inquiry vs science as a religion based on materialism. A lot of people who hold to materialism feel empowered to speak with authority because that is the prevalent philosophy being practised by the world at the moment. More BJJ, prayer and meditation methinks! One to crush your ego, the second to ask the questions and the third to absorb the answers...

What's the deal with the random warped depiction of "the left" wants equal results but not equal opportunities, I feel like that's a conclusion that doesn't intellectually preserve their reason or motive for believing the general gist of that idea. Whenever I hear conservatives depict views of liberals or vice vera, it tends to be some weird warped extreme that doesn't depict its views in the actual context in which its actually reasonable, but misapply them to where it makes no sense, thus giving the effect that the opposite party is stupid or backwards. It feels overall like the political landscape is both sides misrepresenting the other side and illogically applying warped views in unsound contexts so that it seems illogical and silly that a person would think that rather than representing their view in its best light.

Very interesting and diverse AMA Firas. I think the presupposition in your last answer is that in the society wherein women and men are both competing in the workplace (and the family suffers as a result) is that the man would not be picking up the slack in the family side of things.

Breaking my fast with vegetables like broccoli asparagus and baby spinach. Mixed with some scrambled eggs. And later I had an apple with peanut butter. Then a smoothie with the Greek yogurt banana raspberries strawberries 2% milk and protein powder. For exercise I hit the heavy bag and jump rope and got my heart rate elevated and a good sweat. Coach, i think it would be unwise to compare BJJ belt rankings and fighters training in a gym to social problems like racism, classism, sexism. and you can just as well argue that human beings evolved because of mutual aid, not competition and hierarchy. early man lived mostly in small groups of families, and the first civilizations were built off cohesive communities. its called the theory of mutual aid, and its just as compelling as any other theory using Darwinian logic. Peterson's use of that social Darwinism to justify social inequity is just right-wing thinking, Coach

@1:14:57 i had to stop and write this comment. Richard Dawkins said no such thing. Your "world view" is colouring your position to such an extent that you believe something you've probably been told by someone else who is lying, misquoting and misrepresenting what Dawkins said and believes to further both of your "world views". Try spending five minutes googling the subject...and why not go to the "expert in the field" of what Dawkins said, ie Dawkins himself. SMH.

i gree to an extent with what you say. i too am like pluto i dont like the democracy idea, the thing is i believe people can become masters of a subject without going uni. to be an engineer is easy for example, learn two packages and a couple ewations and have some knowledge about materials and youre an engineer. my point is, whatever anyone says you must fact check, and whatever they say they need to back up and if they cant give references like in reports they write then i believe they arent credible

1:14:30 As much as I like you as a master instructor, you should know better than misquoting Dawkins. He doesnt believe in panspermia himself, he just agrees thats a posibillity He believes in life evolving naturally, without any top-down design actually
@jwkelley
@jwkelley 6 жыл бұрын
Your question is a false dilemma. You can allow freedom of movement and accommodate family needs with things such as child care leave. Also allowing woman inclined to the work force, and men incline to the family to flow towards their natural prepositions optimizes the society for efficiency and will destroy both false extremes in the end.
@CoachZahabi
@CoachZahabi 6 жыл бұрын
I wasn't proposing a dilemma but rather offering a thought experiment regarding two competing civilizations. I agree that my example was over simplified (time wouldn't allow for a thorough discussion) but I never reached any conclusion in my thought experimented. It was something to think about onl,y and hopefully we can explore that avenue again in future episodes.

Totally misconstrued what Dawkins was saying he would never say single celled organisms need a creator I appreciate your passion for theology but Dawkins is a incredibly intelligent man who's primary argument is just that God isn't necessary in the creation of life
@CoachZahabi
@CoachZahabi 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, but I'm not sure you understood my position. I wasn't saying Dawkins' position was that life needs a creator, far from it. He is obviously an atheist and does not believe in a creator. What I was saying is this he has said that it is possible that life was seeding on our planet by a more advanced civilization. This more advanced civilization, he supposes would have through darwinian means evolved and then seeded life on our planet. To be clear he was just supposing this as one possibility and not holding it as the only possibility. Listen for yourself fkzbin.info/www/bejne/hpTOmGaBqslrlaMm7s The reason for his theory was to account for how a self replicating cell can be so complex, this was the topic in the video above. In another video when this time referring to "fine tuning" he says we cannot attribute fine tuning to a designer (God) because then we would need to explain who designed the designer (God). This was his major logical fallacy to which I was referring to. Please listen to John Lennox (mathematician and Philosopher of science) bring this point up to Dawkins and express his surprise that this logical fallacy is a central theme in his book "The God Delusion". Listen for yourself kzbin.info/www/bejne/qn7CpIivbreKY6cm32s Please note that the word "Designer" is definitely referring to God since he was debating a man named John Lennox making the case that God is the designer of the universe. Like I discussed in my video when referring to the classic problem of infinite regress, it cannot be resolved ultimately by invoking a superior civilization. Yes it can be argued that a more advanced civilization seeded life on this planet but my objection is that Dawkins is criticizing Theists for not asking who designed God. He doesn't seem to understand that this question is nonsensical. God by definition does not need a designer. God by definition is uncaused, Lennox take him to account for his logical blunder as would all philosophers. My comments where not to show that Dawkins in unintelligent, far from it, but rather I wanted to demonstrate what a poor philosopher he is. This is not an attack on Dawkins, just a demonstration on why we shouldn't take an intellectual in one field as an authority in another field. In regards to his theory on a more advanced alien civilization seeding life on our planet. I understand that this is not an illogical argument and that it merits further examination. My reason for bringing it up was to contrast on how he is pushing the problem further up, it now begs the question. Who seeded this more advanced alien civilization? Hence my point, infinite regress can be solved in just two ways according to the vast majority of philosophers both ancient and modern. One of those two ways is that God created the universe, yet Dawkins doesn't seem to understand why so many thinkers have come to this conclusion, not only doesn't he understand why, he wrote a book in which one of his central themes is the above mentioned logical fallacy. He is obviously unaware of the classical arguments that address the problem of infinite regress. Maybe one day I will make a video on the classic problem of infinite regress, could be fun.

Master Firas, I have to chime in on the religion talk for a second. You spent a solid 10 minutes calling some of the most accomplished public intellectuals of today "foolish", "ignorant", "naive", "laughable", "backwards", "embarrassing" and "arrogant", before asking that they be more "humble" because they could not possibly experts in questions of philosophy without having a bachelors degree in philosophy as, from what I gather, you do. I can not help but see this as you failing what you ask of them, as those 10 minutes amounted to little more than the aforementioned name-calling. You did not answer Dawkins problem with the god hypothesis either, as the definiton of god as the prime mover does nothing to answer the question about the prime mover, you merely named it and assumed there was a first mover, which is an assertion in need of an answer in itself. That is the core problem of the god hypothesis as Dawkins puts it: you see a question that you don't have the answer for, in this case the beginning of life, and you deposit "god" as its cause. Then you state that God himself has no cause, which automatically creates two more scenarios: 1: If you now claim to know anything about the nature of god, you have to answer the question: how do you know that? And 2: if you merely use the term god as a placeholder for some unknown first mover or move, you failed to explain anything. I hope I made the point a bit clearer, please don't take this as an insult but I believe your criticism of Dawkins point missed his actual point entirely. I also realize that you did this without prior preparation, but your extensivr name-calling would warrant a better answer to Dawkins' claim than you delivered, in my opinion at least.

Kurt thank you for the comment much appreciated. Your right, in hindsight I wish I did a little less name calling, I just find the new atheist movement to posses a heavy dose of bullying and this was me standing up for those who feel bullied. I believe there are very good answer to all the questions you posed however I didn't think it would be wise to go into it in this episode. I don't want to go from a Mma show to a show on religion/philosophy, my viewers maybe did not tune in for that. As for the Dawkins comment I have to disagree, I say this with as much respect as possible, a created God or a God who needs a beginning is not a God in the truest sense of the word. "Created God's are by definition an Illusion" please have a lesson kzbin.info/www/bejne/qn7CpIivbreKY6cm20s John Lennox is a Mathematician/Philosopher of science. The question on God is no doubt a complicated one, however one thing we can all agree on is that God does not need a creator. This is a fallacy that is a central them in Dawkins book. Much like how we know the cogito via intuition we know our consciousness, the consciousness is all we actually know in the truest sense of the word. Consciousness we cannot doubt. Consciousness is not physical but metaphysical. Consciousness is not known via logic or empiricism (scientific method) but rather directly (via intuition). Moreover we cannot define or describe consciousness adequately, you have to live it to know what it is. Like consciousness we cannot know or describe God via definition or demonstrate via scientific method. It would be long for me to type a detailed explanation but I did do a video with a friend a while back that you may enjoy and that touches these various topics. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4uWcmmEasieacU

I will watch these and hopefully get back at you, if time permits. I would be interested to hear you expound on this matter more in-depth in the future, it certainly holds an appeal for many people in your demographic, including me.

Jesus was the son of god, I am a Christian and I don’t think Jesus was god, I think that’s a misunderstanding of Christianity, with respect.(you did say divine later to be fair to you)
