Man oh man your braver than I am. Hanging your ledge on active and a hex! I have the BD double portaledge too and I only hang that sucker on permanent anchors, at least one hanger and some gear maybe but just gear……. Not me brother. I did enjoy the vid though and love the passion you convey, I have it in me too. Keep up the hard work and stay safe my man.

Thanks Barry. It is a little strange to think we are hanging on that gear, its not until you actually stop working and lie down that it comes to mind though. Did you see the next video after this, on Moonlight Buttress, that was fun, we hung the ledge on bolts on that one though.

I have a credit card that gets me airline perks and once I posted a question on a forum about if I can bring a 3rd checked bag on for free with this card. Someone piped up and said where could you possibly be going that you need 3 checked bags... Little did they know how many bags I actually need!

Do you hang your portaledge on another anchor or evrything is on the same 3 pièces anchor (#3, hex and #2)?

Hi Maxime, Yes we hung everything, including the ledge, the haulbag, and ourselves from the 3 point trad anchor (there are no bolts on this part of the wall- Just chains at the top which we hadn't reached until the next morning). We find that to set up the ledge its best if we are a fair bit below the anchor because if we are really close it's hard to manoeuvre around to set it up (see my other video called Training for ElCap in the Blue Mountains) so we extend it down with a sling. Depending on the terrain we sometimes do it differently, on a climb up Moonlight Buttress (next video I'll be uploading soon) we hung the ledge from bolted anchors and the haulbag was on a seperate 2 cam anchor that positioned it nicely at the end of the ledge whereas if we put it on the same anchor it gets in the way.
