Yay! Thanks for showing up and being willing to learn as well as allow others to learn from your in person experience.

Clicking at the exact time can be so hard! I often struggle with it for my speedy GCC Jumanji. Great job, Joyce! And I so appreciate how respectful and patient Dave & Jamie are. It makes all the difference when learning how to best care for our feather babies.

Thank you! ❤ Between working on timing and my personal body language our training together has improved so much since, he’s perfected most of these behaviors since plus some new ☺️

It really can! Even as professional trainers we can mess up on timing too!
@catherinelynnfraser2001 Жыл бұрын
Timing is everything. He’s so smart and enthusiastic. I am convinced that just attending those master classes is so valuable. I think it helps to see such a wide variety of successes and near misses.
@joyceparks02 Жыл бұрын
Definitely timing and learning about how he responded so much to my personal body language was a huge eye opener for me! Happy to report his ‘wings’ have gotten much better and he’s perfected other new behaviors too 😄

It also helps for people to video tape their sessions so they can start spotting successes and mistakes. But yes we added observer spots to these for that very reason!

As a professional trainer the #1 thing I’ve learned over 20 years is… be humble. You can and should learn something from everyone and be far less concerned with how you look or in showing off.

Love this so much! We are all students and we are all always learning. We call ourselves "professional guessers" lol.

How much do your birds beg for treats? My budgie begs for seed constantly.
@BirdTricks11 ай бұрын
Depends if it's before or after a meal and what treats they think I have...

Please do another “fixing my subscribers birds” series!!!! I have a super sweet green cheek conure who HATES nail polish. I end up never wearing it because wearing it turns her from the world’s sweetest birb into an angry tiny dinosaur.

I rarely paint my nails. but one day I did. suddenly my lovies wouldn't recall at all, or would come, see it, and fly away. took them a couple days to go back to recalling normally (they usually do it very well!) birds are weird like that.
@BirdTricks11 ай бұрын
Oh no! I got my nails painted before our masterclass tour in Oz and this blue and gold landed on me and immediately regretted it after seeing my nails lol.

I think the cue was supposed to be verbal but he got confused with the slight movement of the hand
@joyceparks02 Жыл бұрын
Definitely! ❤ when I first started training Pablo it was a habit of mine simply reinforcing whatever behavior he offered instead of asking for a behavior and seeing it through, and I became blissfully unaware of how much he was paying attention to my hand and body movements over my verbal cues. It was definitely a huge game changer for us haha! Happy to report his ‘wings’ have gotten much better and he’s learned and perfected more new behaviors since 😄

@@joyceparks02 that’s so awesome! Congrats! Dave and Jamie are the best trainers
@iuidit2809 Жыл бұрын
maybe it would be good to learn a cue first with gesture & verbal and later you can maybe vent over to just verbal when the bird is confident with the trick

She has such awkward body language. Lol…you cant expect to build rapport or a harmonious relationship with any pet if you don’t established mutual trust and this owner looks petrified of her bird.
