You guys are off on the start of a great journey. Thanks for posting this video! Few small corrections based off things said in the video (not a full list, just a few starters) meant with good intentions as we're all constantly learning and improving, and the details really matter in the early days: -Sheepdogs do not just use their eye in contrast to cattle lines border collies. A good sheep dog should absolutely have a bite in its toolbelt, especially if they are working tough rangey sheep. In fact, some sheep depending on the circumstance (inclement weather, breed, ewes with lambs, rams etc.) will not move for a dog unless they believe that dog has the willingness to nip in its back pocket -Balance is not always 12 o'clock. In fact it can vary considerably depending on the stock, the arena/field/pen you're in, and where the draws and pressure are. More accurately, balance is wherever your dog needs to go to be in the right position to turn the stock toward you and hold them on that course. Sometimes it can be well away from 12 o'clock depending on the situation -"Your dog should never go between you and the stock" is not quite accurate. Inside flanks are an important skill, and driving(pushing your stock in a given direction) is even more important. When fully trained your dog will often be between you and your stock. When fetching or balancing, they won't be, but there are many circumstances where they will be inbetween. Looking forward to watching the rest of your journey with this dog -- seems like a great partnership is in the making.

Thank you so much. I would love to talk in person. Send me a text. 573-201-1553. I have so much to learn. We are getting better all the time. I can’t wait for my next video we ended up breeding her to a champion stock dog down in Arkansas. Pups on the way. Also got some good training in.

This thread was so encouraging. So many KZbin watchers are quick to criticize but this isn’t the case here. There was positive insight and the response was also positive. People I can respect.

I have a border collie, not quite 2 yrs old. Is this person training her in the U.S.? Where? I desperately need help. I have sheep.

She's beautiful and smart. Off the subject, but we've got a Chattahoochee Mountain Dog (mutt) that is rabbit obsessed. Hunts like a little wolf. Any ideas how to break her of that habit? My wife and daughter get upset when she kills one. She's gotten two so far. Great video, enjoyed it.

Cute, and smart yes,.but don't like dogs that bite Horses..nor calves..those poor calve's must get stressed going in circles,.Is it really necessary for biting?
