I only wave 50% of the time on tough climbs. On descents the most I might give is a nod, but otherwise I like to have 100% attention on the road.

Do it, I am quite north of here in the PNW...but left the South last year for various reasons. The West Coast has the bike communities and the rides for a new biking addict like myself. Lease is up in March, getting into the city more, and parking the car and going biking for the foreseeable future:) Stay safe and warm!

I dont think they're being snobs. I think they're at their limit ,as far as an amateur can be, and see nothing, cause their brains are lost in a wilderness of pain. so they see blurs of people riding by, but have no energy to wave.. Whereas someone who strong, such as this fellow can leisurely say hello cause he's not at his limit.

I would always wave back at someone but I don't generally go out of my way to greet other cyclists. The same way I don't wave at every other pedestrian on the sidewalk. Idk.. just because we both ride bikes doesn't mean we have a special connection LOL

Maybe it’s a testament to my poor handling skills but seeing Dante wave to others while carving a downhilll turn at 35mph seems nuts to me. Also, hearing him say the uphill stuff sucks while he rockets up with a 37-28 😂.

The more guys look like product influencers from specialized and trek the less likely they are to even acknowledge your dilemma when your stranded with a flat or broken chain or component. About half of the people I wave to on the road don't wave back. I always thought it's because I'm on a gravel bike with XC baggies but I guess it's just that some roadies just don't wave. Hey Dante, If I don't wave to you first you can expect a wave back every time!
