For all those looking to combine ABF with running, I’ve found this is a “pretty good” weekly plan: M- Humane Burpee T- Ladder Sets of Overhead Press W- Tempo Run T- EMOM ABC F- Recover S- Ladder Sets of Overhead Press S- Long Run

Although it’s “only” two run workouts per week, I’ve found my running-fitness has been steadily improving. The Humane Burpee and EMOM ABC end up being sufficient “cardio” days.

Congrats to the new dad. Being 4 deep, my advice is too divide and conquor. There have been many long stretches where she's in the bedroom with the baby, and im getting a deep sleep elsewhere in the house. Then come the early AM i take over. Being great teammates is more effective when you hand the baton to your rested teammate, you don't need to also run their leg of the race with them.😊 Hope that helps. It only takes one of you to change a diaper, swaddle, burp etc... that being said, don't neglect the new mom! They might need more care and attention than the baby!!

Autoregulation to me isn't a decision to train or not, but rather how heavy/hard to push during a training session. When working towards a heavy 1-5 rep set, I may push for a new max when feeling awesome, or I may keep 2-3 reps in the bank if I'm feeling beat up and tired. For me, its been the best thing I've learned to do to keep me healthy as an older lifter (49).

It's simple and logical. I read this online stuff about never missing a rep or whatever but life happens...to me, at least.

Using the same kettlebell and workouts has been great. The improvement almost sneaks up on you. I got confused with how easy certain things felt when they were really hard only a few weeks earlier.

Great to hear! It’s such a simple thing, but a lot of people just don’t seem to do it

Always a plethora of quality knowledge coach, I would love to hear more about your advice with jump rope. I’ve skipped for decades as an athlete. I have titrated down on volume and may skip 1-2x week now for 30 sec to 1 min intervals . The right soft surface and music ( my boxers understand ) keeps me going further. Anyways , would love to hear your gold standard advice on how to keep the rope in routine with kettle bells, and suspension trainer. Thank you

Noted! I’ll have to think about that. Obviously this great value in it, but I just don’t really know what to advise.

Thank you 🙏🏼 I’ll be grateful with anything you provide on the subject. Longevity and joint integrity is my main focus and reason why I’m re evaluating the constant jumping. Loaded carries and incline walking has slowly replaced the high impact activities

This was an especially good episode. Great questions, great answers. Your story about cross-discipline trainers made me chuckle. I used to attend a certain self defense systems annual summer camps both nationally and abroad. The military grade stress tets, scenario training and hour long grade tests were ok, but everybody feared the yoga instructor.

Well unfortunately my experiment with the team trying sabre fencing did not workout. We had 3 eviscerations, 2 wrist amputations, countless missing fingers, 1 eye blinding, and 1 decapitation. It was a failed experiment, but I have high hopes for my 20lbs ankle weight water polo training.

By auto regulation. I wonder if the writer was referring to the idea where you do a set, shake it off, breathe, walk around, and basically wait until you *feel* recovered to do another set, as opposed to every 30 seconds or 90 seconds etc. I assume he’s calling it lazy because the practitioner isn’t pushing themselves to do the next set, but rather, being leisurely to ensure “full recovery” before the next set.

That could be. Sometimes if people don’t really expand on something, I just can’t follow.

Coach, I'm a week into heavy hands & really enjoy it. I'm currently using 5 lb weights. How much heavier do you think I should go?
@DanJohnStrengthCoach11 күн бұрын
I’m not sure that going heavier than that actually helps. That’s my opinion in my experience but most people tell me the same thing.
