Training Solo - What I Carry To Avoid Dog Attack

SHTF would herald more extreme measures. Packs of dogs, rogue dogs and the deliberate use of them by others will be a huge threat. However.... We are currently bound by the law. Training /running /walking requires vigilance and immediate responses. Dog walkers can be a problem.

I was watching a documentary last night about Whitmoor prison, they had a jail break in 1994 the escapees threw pepper in the dogs faces and it appeared to mess them up.

Good to know. Yeah I thought about pepper, including other substances. One must use all available means. When running/training they can come out of nowhere, vigilance is key. Thanks for stopping by man.

Yeah a pack of dogs are a force to be reckoned with. Run down areas, shtf events will see more of them. More extreme measures required I think.

Good one, PV. I deal with feral dogs. Every damn Recession, people turn loose large dogs on the country side. .

Feral dogs can be a whole different ballgame - More extreme measures would be required, most of which involve getting out of their vacinity or taking them full-on.

Thank you for your video. I just have my knife. The thing is so sharp I can't unsheathe it without cutting myself. (Not all the time) OMG, that field of blooms blew my mind as I look out upon the snowbanks here. They are rotting away fast now, just not fast enough for me. Lots of bare ground showing too, ... just not enough. My Dog, ... a little over a five month old puppy, ... seems to get riled when she's scared. I watch her tail and if it's not curled up on her back, ... something is up. She's big too, being half Great Pyrenes, and half Sheep Dog. She's all white and the mud here dyes it pink for a day or two. When people come to the door she puts on a great show let me tell you. It's funny too because as soon as I step out to chat with the company, she shuts right up and watches through the screen door. A few night ago it was late, the puppy was sleeping, and there was a racket out on the walk. Boy, she knows her job already because upon waking up in the porch, she wasn't sure were the noise came from so she inspects the kitchen then heads for the door. Her Barks sounded more like an alarm as she sought what woke her. They were not frequent either. BUT! Had I been in bed, I would have heard her. I took her out onto the porch after letting the noisy cat in, lol and we inspected out there too. Soon she will be doing the rounds of the property on her own, ... and not running the roads as one dog does here. It doesn't set a good example. The two times she got away and into the neighbours yard next door there were no problems. He's got a dog too. As soon as the snowbanks are gone I'll be walking the border with her on leash and peeing on every rock, bush, and tree we pass. She'll get the idea. I have a dish soap container that I'll fill with urine just for the occasion. Once she's trained to the yard (there's a couple of acres in the back yard) the interest she has in the odd car won't be too much of a problem. As long as she stays in the yard. Good luck.

Be wary of the law, so often the dog will suffer from lack of control/training. People are all too keen nowadays on taking people to court over minor events.

There is a feral hog problem in Texas. Occasionally a dog can be a problem. Always go armed. I keep my Lady Smith handy! Blessings 🙏🏼👍🏼

Dog attacks are pretty rare in UK and Europe, its mostly noise and the dogs reacting or being defensive guarding their owners or territory, Joggers can often trigger a response because the dogs see a threat, they dont understand exercise to them its an attack, so it might be an idea to slow down and not run at the dog or owner. Threat wise people are far more likely to attack you. That said i have been on the sharp end of a trained attack dog and it was pretty unpleasant. Finely ground Pepper will put most off, charging or lunging a dog will likely antagonize a it but will stop or delay an attack (works on police dogs too), To break up dog fights i carry a kubotan .... a method ive witnessed was the thumb up the ass, it stopped a pitbull cold. Most effective way if a dog is attacking is grab the collar and twist it, you'll choke the dog out, like people they require oxygen and most dogs loose their breath fairly quickly.

Absolutely. Not many people know how to handle dogs, especially if they attack. Dogs are pretty easily killed - Infection risk from bites is quite high - packs could present a real danger in shtf.

Thank you, my friend, for the tips and that sounds like a good idea to have. Here in Sweden you can buy something called dog defense and it is also a spray and that might be a good idea to get one.

G,day, PV ye good vid . Dogs on the loose can be a problem for sure . I recently caught two large dogs chasing and killing sheep just for the sport of it , they weren’t hungry they were mud fat . It always makes me laugh when people say but my dog never leaves home . Cheers man
