Actually Dustin came closer to beating Khabib (who I consider the best fighter on the planet and have been a die hard fan of since TUF.) than any other fighter and he did that with jiu-jitsu. Had Dustin of pulled full guard when he had Khabib in that Guillotine, there's a damn good chance He would be the champ right now. He made the mistake of leaving his right leg under the belly instead of wrapping both legs around the back and keeping Khabib from turning his body to that weak side and eventually slipping out. Did Dustin make a small mistake that cost him the belt? Yes. Is there a white belt on the planet who could get that close to taking out Khabib? Hell no Actually , I lied. Dustin came closer than anyone except Gleison Tibau. I hate to say it but Gleison very well could have, and probably should have, gotten his hand raised that night. I've watched that fight 4 times now and every time I look for a way to say "OK yea, Khabib rightfully won that fight.", but I can't. What I can do however is give Khabib a pass on that fight because everyone knows Tibau was on enough juice to kill the entire Kentucky Derby.

Conor's opponent's he's KO'd in the ufc: Marcus Brimage: 5'4 Diego Brandao: 5'7 Dustin poirier: 5'9 Dennis Siver: 5'6 1/2 Chad mendes: 5'6 Jose Aldo: 5'7 Eddie Alvarez: Listed as 5'9 but actually 5'7 With the exception of Eddie, all of those guys were featherweights. The only guys that he failed to TKO were Max and Nate, both over 5'10. I doubt khabib is gonna get knocked out. I dont see this in a million years seeing that he's fought bigger guys and has never even been knocked down once. The only person conor has ko'd that was his size was Poirier.

Not saying I think Conor is going to win because I lean towards khabib but Conor can absolutely win. No one that khabib has fought can make him pay for closing the distance like Conor can. Michael Johnson and barboza are way more flat footed basic strikers who have nowhere near the timing and accuracy Conor has. If khabib shoots in and doesn’t set it up and Conor sees it coming and turns out on an angle and counters, it could be bad news for khabib. If khabib can back Conor up to the cage, fight is probably over for Conor because khabib will take him down. But point being if Conor can keep this in the middle of the cage and maintain the distance he wants, khabibs striking won’t be able to keep up. Again not sayin I even think Conor will win because I’d probably give khabib the edge, but totally plausible that Conor catches him.

Islam Machochev is crucial to Khabibs preparation. Hes a very fluid and technical southpaw. So hopefully Khabib learned alot from sparring with him. Mendez is a master kick boxer so I am putting faith in the fact that they established a good enough theoretical gameplan to not fall into Conors game like all his other oppoenents do.This is the first guy I feel actually takes Conors striking seriously and has prepped for it adequately.

At the Muay Thai gym I train at, last year a team of Daghestani fighters trained for a few months so I got to see them everyday. These guys were beasts! I rarely saw them get tired, they hit like Mack trucks, and had this almost cyborg like attitude that they wanted to kill their opponents, not just beat them. And, these were amateurs. So I can only imagine what Khabib is like. Cardio for days and strong as f*ck! Conor has piss poor cardio and no ground game. And, he has only one weapon standing up, his left hand. Not his kicking or right hand, just one limb. I think it will take more than one trick to beat Khabib.
