Update on Ace - I have gotten him involved in playing some of the games kzbin.infoUgkxECnmSvBSv_NGWx4_ChD73pF3NYZwI2F3 and I can see a difference in his confidence already! My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!

I have a beautiful 4 month old Chesador lab, she is very smart and doing great just working with her 30 mins a day. my biggest fault I am having is a strong "come" command. she listens in and around the house/property but when I take her to the river or woods she plays this catch me if you can game. can you please give me some tips to strengthen that command. Stonnie just found your channel a week ago and been watching you like crazy love all the teachings you have. I am getting a dog for my family next week and my girls and wife have fallen in love with a mix breed lab/pit. So I did some research and both breeds seem good to me I have had both breeds in the past. The big question I have for you is that I am going to try to teach her your system and I want to know what the best one to use would be the Lab one or the Malinois system. I want to put high expectations being that I now have a wife and kids and want to protect them. I know that a Malinois or GSP would be best for a family protection dog. But do to cost i just cant, so is it a realistic expectation for her to be a family protection dog at all.?? thx i advance for your time and answer and I'll keep watching.
@StonnieDennis10 жыл бұрын
Ivan Sotelo Basically, I just use fundamental dog training principles and even though it seems like a "system" it's really just figuring out how to apply the fundamentals to a given situation. Have an open mind, try a bunch of stuff and catalog the results. Keep what works, disregard the rest.

Stonnie, I really like the use of the table for training a puppy so it is at a more workable height, and am considering doing this with a future puppy. Have you ever had problems with the dog continuing to jump on the picnic table as it gets older, say 5 or 6 months old, and becoming a problem? How and when do you teach the pup to not instinctively go on the table?
@anneeverettraerae52310 жыл бұрын

Hey Stonnie, I have a two year old black lab and at first he was great with staying inside the gate, but now he has gotten into the habit of climbing the fence and getting out. So I've had to keep him on a leash and it breaks my heart. He is now refusing to eat until I take the leash off. What would you recommend to do to train him to stay inside the fence. Also I do walk the dog twice a day for an hour.

I've been trying to get her to walk with me in the backyard more and i'm doing more short quick pulls with "come bella" than we are walking and I'm not sure if I'm just making her disinterested or if she's just stubborn. Thanks

At the beginning you said, "If the dog doesn't run up to you right away, something is wrong" I just got an 8 week old German Shepherd Mix (we think he's part Lab). He's now 11 weeks old, & seems pretty smart. He knows SIT and DOWN on command.. starting to learn SHAKE.. but getting him to COME can be quite hard, especially if he's lying down at the time. When he does come, he walks over very slowly, and sometimes he seems very stubborn. He is a very lazy dog, and has pretty low energy.. Do you think something is actually wrong? If not, how do I get him more excited about COMING to us? We play with him, using balls & tug toys.. and we always reward him with treats when he does what we ask. What else should we be doing?

Hey Stonnie, I have a 8 weeks old lab, and she doesn´t always listen, when I call her sometimes she comes, and some others she doesn´t. Most of the times when she comes, is because she knows I´m gonna give her something she needs. weather is food, water, etc. What do you suggest me to do?
