Been following Rob since before he was ripped, haha when he said on tour he was going to start working out! Great Guy, Dope DJ, Scratchin' and Healthy Livin', Mad Respect!!!

repetitive scratch practice thats all it takes. sctatch till your hand feels like its gonna fall off everyday. thats how i built muscle memory with both hands.

Dang. I'm like you Rob. I'm right-handed but scratching the record with my right hand is difficult. I "dominate the fader" better with my right hand than my left. And my left hand has better control of the record than my right. I can scratch all day with my right hand on the fader....to the point scratching becomes more of a feeling (what I want to happen happens), but when I switch sides it's almost like I'm starting all over again from day one. This video is really the kind of added info I've been looking for. Your videos are really helpful. Thank You for sharing them.

I've always thought you a turntablist should be capable of scratching with both hands. I am in the process of learning with my weak hand and although it was frustrating to begin with I am getting a lot more competent and scratching is starting to feel much more natural now! However, I waited till I got pretty good at scratching with my strong hand before I switched over, that way I knew how the certain scratches were supposed to sound/feel. Keep up the quality vids Rob!

damn man, I had one of your videos pop up randomly on the youtube front page and since I sub'd I've been school on a whole other level, been djing since late 80's took part in some dj comps and such, played shows and met loads of dj's and shared knowledge and "best practices" but the knowledge that your dropping is second to none thus far, I've learned so much from just these videos alone, mad props to you man for taking the time to educate. THANK YOU about to work on my "weak" side, lol

"By favoring your dominant hand you dwell in your comfort zone, a safe place of skratches if you will. Hence, neglecting the hand that truly needs the practice." That's pretty much all you need to know about how to become better at anything. Practise more on things you're not yet good at than on what you're already good at. Get the balance right! :)

@Rob Swift curious of your thoughts on Crazy B's juggling with the 2 turntable then mixer setup. I think Crazy B was super dope but that setup (a la DJ Cheese as someone mentioned before) isn't what most DJs will ever encounter.

Great videos. Old school metal head here, I bought a traktor kontrol s2 recently to get my kids into mixing and they have shown a lot of interest so I ordered a tec 1200mk7 and a mixer for scratching. I haven't decided on a second turntable yet but I'm thinking a new usb table "audio technica" or an older tec "mk2, mk3, mk5, ect" thoughts? As I use this stuff mostly to get my kids into mixing / scratching I am having trouble justifying a second $1200 table.

@@khlr972 this will be my first technic turntable. I orded it from long and mcquade. I was aware of a backlog when I bought it and still haven't gotten it about a month later but long and mcquade called me the other day to ask my sweater size. Panasonic wanted to apologize for the long wait and is sending me a free technic hoodie. Seems like great customer service.
