Haven't heard anything about them for some time. I think no news is probably bad news in this case.

Did you know that some of the Tonbridge to Redhill services are staffed by Southeastern crew? If being run by Southern, it is usually a driver-only operation. If it is being run by Southeastern, there will be a conductor on-board responsible for dispatch. Part of the reason for doing this is that it enables Southeastern crews to retain route knowledge between London and Hastings via East Croydon and Tonbridge, when the main route via Sevenoaks is inaccessible.

Thank you for this interesting information. I have previously filmed diverted Hastings services at Norwood Junction and East Croydon.

Love the videos, not so sure about zooming in though, it takes away perspective
@BoogiesTrains2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Glad you are enjoying some of my work. The zoom allows me to keep the main subject, the train, as the dominant part of the shot for longer and also allows me to show things that I can't get close to. My earlier work is with a camera with much less zoom available. I swapped for the current one as I found it quite frustrating. Having said that, I agree that it comprises the perspective. My own pet hate is long clips where the train is a speck on the horizon until the last few seconds. I'll bear your comments in mind when out filming.

Interesting as ever. Were you asked to "sign in" by a member of staff? Oh, if you're in Purley again, there's a nice metal sculpture in Rotary Park of a horse pulling a couple of wagons on the alignment of the Croydon, Merstham & Godstone Railway.

When I got off the train that I arrived on I asked the platform staff what the policy was. They asked me to let the information point on platform 2 know that I was around, which I did, but it took a while for there to be a lull in the traffic. They didn't actually log me in but appreciated being informed. I was made very welcome.

Platform 0 is unusual, why not re-number 1 to 4 I wonder?
@BoogiesTrains2 жыл бұрын
There are quite a few platform 0 around the country including Kings Cross and Edinburgh Haymarket. It avoids the cost of changing all the signage and systems if there is no other reason for doing so.

When is Great Western Railway going to introduce the Class 769s on the Reading-Redhill/Gatwick Airport service. Or have they already started service. And nice to see some Thameslink trains stopping at Redhill.
@BoogiesTrains2 жыл бұрын
Only this one on test as far as I can see. I presume others are available and also being tested. Haven't heard anything about them actually entering service.
@Andrewjg_892 жыл бұрын
@@BoogiesTrains Hopefully in May. Fingers crossed if GWR does allow the Class 769s to enter service.
