Trains in the 1980s - Class 37s in Action

This video is a compilation of clips of Class 37s in action on the main line, filmed between 1987 and 1991. These have been put together in (TOPS) Class number order, and only show single loco workings, no double-heading.
Some locomotives feature more than once.

I started with BR 1974 I was 19 years old my uncle was a mainline driver he managed to get me into the training college at eastfield traction depot springburn Glasgow so I drove many class 37s when I worked at that yard

I used to drive triple headers class37s with massive coal trains out of barrasie Ayrshire when I was a fireman out of eastfield traction depot springburn Glasgow 1974 fantastic locomotive so much power

Hi my friend . Track magic is fine on loco wheels. I use a drop of nail varnish remover on a cotton bud . That the wife got for me it works fine for me . Your layout is coming on great 👍

Nice to see the domestic coal workings ,with the red HTAs, they where a colorful train on the Gwml, nearly always a blue 37 0 up front, again ,good memories, great footage .

If memory serves me correctly, 37/5 we nick named slugs and 37/9s where super slugs.😊
