Trains In The 1990's - Stenson Jct & Toton (July 1994).wmv

If you loved my 'Mega Loco Fest @ North Staffs Jct' movie from May 2012, compare it to this from neighbouring Stenston Junction filmed in July 1994. This features Classes 31, 37, 47, 56, 58, 60, HST, 150, 153, 156, and even a Class 90! There's also a brief stop at Toton to capture 31116 'Rail Celebrity' in its unique Infrastructure livery, along with a handful of other 31's and locos in various liveries.

11.35 some dodgy Pway practices going on there. No wonder the 153 was blowing.. Couldnt see an Advance lookout man. Some great trains through there. Funny seeing a Class90, guessing it was on it's way to Toton for fixing, maybe ??? Yes, love all these old vids, keep them coming. 👍😎

Really, that's amazing. Still a location I visit a few times each year now, but of course quite a bit different these days - certainly miss the MGRs and 58s.

Those 58s are like a Shed and a 70 combined with a 67 horn. I live very near this area and I never got to see it when the power station lines were open but over 20 or so years it’s changed so much.

Cheers for that. The late 80's to late 90's were a great time to be an enthusiast filming locos before the mass introduction of 66's and the death of loco hauled passenger workings. Tons more like this to come you'll be pleased to know then :-)

Was very lucky with the 58's passing going out and into Willington Power Station. Probably apart from the 1970's when diesel locos ruled, this transition period in the 1990's with various sectors and countless liveries was a golden era before the losses in freight traffic and wall to wall 66's everywhere you went.

Cheers Keith. Apart from the 90 drag that was a pretty typical day, in fact maybe a bit quieter than usual freight wise as it was a Monday. This was only just under a 3 hour visit too - wait until you see my Clay Cross stuff from the 90's if you think this is busy :-)

Very true, 66's still a while off appearing at this time. Still, roll forward 18 years and the 60's and 56's are making a return, if only we had a few 58's around..............

Thanks Chris. Yes, Stenson had to be the psot back then, and is still good now of course, but you get the cars there and can't film so easily both ways as at North Staffs Jct.

Nice..of course Willington station has been reopened since then..Power station lines long gone..and North Staffs junction completely re~aligned..slightly higher speeds over jct to Crewe..
