One small correction, I spelt Hardisty wrong in the video so my apologies as by the time a realized this mistake I had already deleted the main edit file in the new to me Final Cut Pro not sure how to restore that yet.

Cool catch on the SD40-2F. Those Loram grinders remind me of a cross between a European style cab with an Alco Century series carbody locomotive. Good video Tony 👍🏻😄

@@MikeG42 thank you Mike. Yeah that rail grinder or more specifically a switch grinder moves at a pretty good pace when they’re not actually grinding I was a bit surprised.

Another great video of our beautiful country - thanks so much, Tony. Would be very nice to see the same area in the spring/early summer when green. Missed the significance of the 'red barn' - was that the third locomotive? what was special about it? Best regards.
@TonyVRailfanningАй бұрын
@@nickandrade6777 yes I agree. I will definitely go back in the late spring early summer to these two locations. The red barn had no cat walk on the outside and was based on the SD 40s but CP had only 30 of them when they first bought them in the late 70s now there are only six left . Crew actually did not like them. They were uncomfortable and noisy.

4:36 Time. This crossing ; west of Hardisty, on a gravel road,off of Highway 13 north, 3 miles west. This corner was where i dropped off a train crew , as taxi operator for CP and CN. Some trees, along the north side, east quadrant....have been removed from that sidehill. The road his camera, and stand is on .....runs curvey south to highway 13. // Anyway....take care, all. Try to park, at least 30 feet back, from rail crossings ; WHEN YOU MUST ! This train, of 2 miles. Composed of about 132 loaded cars ; each weighing about , average of 240,000 pounds. = 32,505,000 pounds ----- Plus 3 GE locomotives ; probably 4400 hp models, total of just them, fuelled up is about 1,305,000 pounds . FOR a Grand Total, of that 32,505,000 pounds. Travelling anywhere from 0 - 20 - 55 mph. /// KEEP your eyes, ears open .....stay ALIVE. ....you WILL loose.

@@TonyVRailfanning ....Thank you, too much. Will keep an ' eye ' on your videos. The most backward place, i've been , is Buclou and Vera. CP line, going Hardisty east - to northwest of Unity, Sask. One time - in the fall of, probably 2018-2019. Parked somewhere northwest of Biggar - maybe 30 miles. Side of highway - parked in van - waiting for train crew, of train on the right side. About 150 feet from road. There was a deer, hit by a vehicle, in the ditch about 150 feet in front of me. Its' head, popped up, several times a minute - poor thing, back was broken. I so WANTED TO WALK UP to it - and kill it with a machete that i carried - but i COULDN'T leave the van.....11 AM . // o well....take care, Tony ! (in hardisty)
