That Greenhillstairs location is near a favoured one of mine. Excellent tracking shots. It was a nice change to see the 'Tesco' with a bit of speed to it. The water in the burn beside, showed it was on the uphill side. I thought the engineering train was lollygagging a bit, but having read your explanation further down it made sense. A great day out (wasn't that one of British Railways advertising slogans back when?).

Glad you enjoyed it. Most of the spots were better for photography but even the motorway noise at Greenhillstair seemed more muted thanks to the external mic. I suspect a few of those spots might be unavailable after the spring once the trees leaf.

@@LeslieGilpinRailways Ah, I forgot something. At the pace I was referring to I got stymied by a stray branch of bracken. The autofocus latched onto the bracken about 50yds away and pulled focus from the train heading up the valley. Ruined a great runout.

Hi, Leslie. You sounded a bit frustrated that you only got the 5 minutes, but quite a 5 minutes. Some new angles, and I especially liked the shot of the Avanti (Glasow-Euston) running through below your angle. Grand shot that! Nice video, too!

It's all too easy these days to forget just how formidable a challenge this presented to steam traction - the electrics make it look so effortless. Fabulous country - must get the drone up there when the days draw out.

I drove as far as Elvanfoot so definitely in Clydesdale, but wanted to get some recording done and get back to Lockerbie. Maybe the next time as north of the summit is more scenic.
