You really are a model railway collector David, these kits are little stunners but I’d probably walk on past them seeing them as of no use to me. It’s great to have hobbyists like you who buy these products as ‘display’ items. Paul
@trainsontuesday5 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, I have yet to see a train or model that I don't like but not only am I a collector of these things I also dabble in history. Both the prototype history and the history of modeling. These Rosebud Kitmaster models played an important part (in my opinion) in the development of model railways as we know it today.I have a number of items I would like to see go to a suitable museum when I can no longer enjoy having them. Cheers Paul, David.

Those models look really well done David. What a great display shelf to have, maybe even build a little diorama for 1 or 2 of them. Regards Steven.

Very successful trip to the hobby shop. I miss these sort of visits as our local shop closed just about two years ago now. The container wagon was a one of a number of items made by Tri-ang Hornby for ATT the model you show is described in Pat Hammond second book as being R.821 from 1968 Flex Van with NMRA couplings. I'm just catching up on videos and comments as I have just returned from holiday myself. Great video. Oscar
@trainsontuesday5 жыл бұрын
Hello Oscar, It always pays to drop into the hobby shop and this time it was as you say, very successful. Thank you for the information re. the container wagon. It will be an easy conversion to put tension lock couplers onto it using the screws provided with the NMRA couplers. (They can be stored in one of the containers.) Regards, David.

They are awesome finds. The container car is curious. I thought it may have been Triang Transcontinental but if so would have been labelled as such. My first electric trainset had series three track (second hand in Christmas 1962). It never survived the early 70s - trying to clean it with sandpaper wasn't the best of ideas.
@LeslieGilpinRailways5 жыл бұрын
David, look up American Train & Track corp. It was founded after Triang ceased exporting to the USA and was a predecessor of Model Power. They got Triang to make transcontinental line and other cars in US liveries. Including the freightliner car as Milwaukee Road! Don't know if this link will work www.triang.weebly.com/att.html#

@@LeslieGilpinRailways Hi Leslie, Oscar Paisley has given me information on ATT. I had been thinking of converting that container car to tension lock couplers but on learning its history I think I'll leave it "as is." Thank you for the link. (I tried it but it didn't work.) Cheers, David.

Hi leslie, I'm extremely happy to have found these beautifully built Kitmaster kits. I think we all ruined a bit of Tri-ang track that way, the nickle - silver coating was so thin. David.

good morning to you sir. your smile at the end says it all. i like the Jupiter but, back then did it not burn wood? thanks for sharing some of your purchases, i know there is lots more yet, that bag was really heavy. lol
@trainsontuesday5 жыл бұрын
Goooood morning Sparky. Yes, very pleased with these but they weren't in my case, they came from my local hobby shop. If the General wasn't burning wood in the 1860's then what was it burning? David.
@pdrrengineer14045 жыл бұрын
Sparky, the General, built by Rogers in 1855, was definitely a wood burner. It's not clear in the video of the model, but the drawing on the box clearly shows the tender with a cord wood load.
@trainsontuesday5 жыл бұрын
@@pdrrengineer1404 Thank you, you are correct. When I saw the model I thought that maybe I should enhance that a bit but on reflection I think I'll leave it as a tribute to the builder. Cheers, David.

Again, great video David!, quick question, what paint colour is used for both of the prairie tanks? Thanks, Jordan
@trainsontuesday5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jordan, The one I built is an Airfix one and I built it in the 1960's. It was painted with Humbrol No. 3 The other one is a Kitmaster kit built by someone else and I don't know what paint was used but it is a very good Brunswick Green. Hope this helps, David.

@@trainsontuesday OK thanks David! I'm planning to buy the large prairie from dapol with huge hopes of making the connecting rods work. I've heard its hard from your other video but I'm still super keen on it! Any tips?
@trainsontuesday5 жыл бұрын
@@jrailways Yes, Take your time with every step and be sure to remove all flash. Check the rotation of each wheel in the axel hole it is to fit into and then don't mix them up I have found that the wheels on some of the Dapol kits are out of gauge (back to back) and so I put spacers in to bring them out to the proper flange spacing. Pre paint where you can, wheels, frame, bogies etc and sometimes you might be best off to glue just one thing and leave it to dry before doing the next i.e. the pins in the drive rods. Please let me know how it works out. I have one of the Dapol Large Prairies to build too. That will bring my fleet of them up to 3. All the best, David.
@jrailways5 жыл бұрын
@@trainsontuesday thanks bud! I've tried a dapol schools class but I list one of the pins so I only gave 1 side the connecting rods, it also doesn't roll as well as k wanted it, but other then that it turned out pretty good, I have it a br black livery as u didn't have any sort of green paint on hand. Thanks, Jordan
