I read an article on a facebook barn group. It had a building like the round building. It was a livestock sales barn. Built for a large farm. The first floor held the livestock and sales ring. The second floor had offices and places for buyers to stay overnight. I believe the third floor was for the custodian and feed storage. I don't remember were it was.

My place of retirement. Steelton on that rail. Cleveland Cliffs are the current owners. That is the oldest rail mill in the U.S. that is still in operation. Pennsylvania R.R. started that mill to produce their rail in 1867. Cool video.

Nice video of trains in Circleville, Ohio, Jaw Tooth! The trains were interesting to watch as they passed. The long-distance view of the CSX train was a change of pace from the Norfolk Southern trains running through Circleville. The water tower in Circleville is a great advertisement for the Circleville Pumpkin Show. I did a Google Search on that odd shaped house in Circleville, Ohio. The Google Search indicated that the building is an eight-sided home that was built between 18855-56 by a man named George Gregg. The house may have been built to resemble the octagonal courthouse that was at Circleville's center when the town was originally laid out in the form of a circle.

That old building looks like a speeder shed. Back in the day before hy-rails, track speeders were the vehicles of choice. Here in Rhinelander we had two, one for C&NW and a large one for SOO Line. The Atlas HO speeder shed was based on this SOO Line shed. Love the long distance train shot. According to Wiki. the octagon house is the Gregg-Crites house moved to its' present site in 2004. Doesn't say what the plans for the house are. Double NS DPUs are a cool bonus. Great video, enjoyed it much. Thanks JT!

I went to the Pumpkin Show in Circleville for 30 years, but I haven't been there for several years now. I enjoyed myself every time the family and I went . Pumpkin Ice cream, pumpkin burgers, pumpkin fudge, pumpkin pie etc., and the large display of pumpkin of all sizes, from small to almost 2,000 pounds. 🎃🎃

No wonder the 2 DPUs at the end of the iso container train were working hard - I counted 108 containers and maybe at some stage all the wagons were double stacked so need a lot of horse power to pull and push that train!

Looking at the shed, likely an equipment shed for track maintenance back in the day. Possibly a speeder shed too. Those usually have concrete floors and maybe still light track inbedded. Just guessing. Thanks for sharing. 👍

Welcome back to Circleville. The round house is the Gregg-Crites Octagon House, Wikipedia site info. The million-gallon water tower that looms over the southern side of the town required 1,300 gallons of paint to achieve its current appearance. A decorative stem at the top helps accentuate the illusion of a Charlie Brown-worthy pumpkin watching over the area. Built in the mid 70s.

With the main line tracks plus the yard for holding grain cars makes for quite a rail Corridor in that town. Add in the busy CSX on the outskirts of town and it's a real rail hub. That interesting house.plus the pumpkin Water Tower which almost looks a bit like a glazed donut. There is a unique connection with the pumpkins to the hotspot rail towns of Rochelle IL and Mendota IL in that some of the largest pumpkin canneries are located in that area. Then you had Lokie and Chessie going in circles trying to commandeer the chewy toys. All those circles could drive one dizzy

Those were some really good views of downtown Circleville .. looks like it's been well maintained by the city and property owners. And apparently it was a really bustling place back in the day. And I was wondering how good the distant shot of the train on the CSX line was going to be, but yes, that was pretty cool to watch a mixed manifest from that distance, and it was good quality video too .. odd to see a single loaded coal hopper in the middle of all that. The NS unit train, 85 empty grainers at an average 31 tons each adds up to 2635 tons .. and being pulled by 1 ES44AC, that IS pretty amazing.

Hobo shoestring said that grain train was empty from my recall, because the springs were expanded enough to insert a finger between the coils. Just saw the last cars springs though so you might be right too.
