Freight trains with cabooses on the rear and leading shoving platforms. Norfolk & Western 611 steam locomotive pulling a cupola caboose. Popular American train spotting locations were included. Tourist trains such as The North Carolina Transportation Museum and the Florida Railroad Museum with cabooses. And more. Also included are cabooses from all over the eastern United States. The inside of cabooses is shown. This is a caboose compilation video. Railroad employees riding cabooses. Remote control caboose on CCET was not included but I have videos of it in action. All video shot in 2017 and 2016. The correct plural for caboose is cabooses. Cabeese is not a correct word. Thanks for watching! Please comment, rate and Subscribe to JawTooth!

Hey Jaw ! love the Pennsylvania , New York Central , Penn Central , Conrail bay window caboose ! Also loved the two B&O center cupola cabooses the steam locos 's are the best ! And that Conrail (NYC) caboose , sweet ! The Southern and the CSX bay window caboose is hack heaven ! The NYC box transfer caboose truely a rare find ! CSX GP40-2 's , sweet ! B&O port hole center cabooses hack heaven ! Thanks Jaw ! EWE DA MAN !!! SP Lives ! Where are the GP49 's.?

The GP49s will probably not run on this line again. 2807 was shipped out west to Walla Walla rr, the black one is in storeage waiting for the owner to ship it somewhere else when needed and the third one was just a parts engine. CCET never owned these locos. Thanks for watching!

That would have been really cool working for the railroad and getting to ride in the caboose. I rode in one overnight in the early 80s . A local out of Cincinnati let a friend of mine and me ride in it while they did switching around the city.

2 B&O cabooses on the Whitewater line are C2028 & C2232. They are both regularly used for our operations. Both are a Class I5D. Built in Washington, Indiana. The Penn Central Green Transfer Caboose was given the NYC name as NYC was the line that ran through that area. The C&O caboose was a privately owned caboose that was removed & repurposed to it's operational potential for Whitewater after the owners passing.

I said it before & I'll say it again-this is something you no longer see, cabooses on trains, seeing as how they died out back in the 80s, so to see something like this is a rarity. Same with steam trains.

A very nice compilation of cabooses, Jaw Tooth. Thanks. If you ever get to the west coast, the Pacific Southwest Ry Museum has a nice collection of cabooses. They are in San Diego County with part of their collection in La Mesa, CA and the balance in Campo, CA. They run a tourist train on the San Diego and Arizona Eastern in the mountains east of the San Diego urban area. It's a pretty long drive from San Diego, but worth the visit if you have the time.

HEAVENS TIBETSY!!! 😮😮 I'm overly impressed & saved this to my playlist of locomotives! Felt like a kid in a candy store Haha! There were cabooses everywhere! And parades of beautiful engines! I saw the blue & white one with the caboose behind it, I screamed & BROKE my cowbell trying to ring it 😔 Because I had gone crazy! I could only shout yahoo!😜😍😍😜 If I were there, Would have lost my mind and died 😱 But was that a caboose or an engine @ 9:33?? Because it looks like a combination of both, I can't really tell. But so many different types of them, Caboose cuteness overload! LOVE THIS! It was good to see your children getting a ride in the caboose. If I ever got the opportunity, Would be the happiest day in my life! Never got to ride one when my grandfather worked for railroad. Or when i was an security guard for Austin steam train. I'm in a wheelchair now.😭 Okay... Thanks for putting this up! You did such a great job! This deserves an Oscar! 👍Such a fantastic job. Also liked the blue model at end of video. I'm going to have to replace my yahoo cow bell though! 😅

If you've got the money, a SOO line wood caboose is for sale for $45,000.00 on one of the web sites I just viewed. 10 to 20 thousand is the price of most other cabooses for sale on this particular site. I wonder if that includes transportation and set-up? Probably not.

I went to an auction one time where a caboose was sold. It costs the guy more to ship the caboose than he paid for it. I want one someday. I tried to buy some track a couple years ago and both companies who were going to ship it for me got busy with other construction jobs and I lost the sale of the track. I'm going to buy a couple hundred feet of track first and then get a caboose or other rail car.

In the long ago, there was a restaurant in Temple called Victoria Station, and it was housed in complete box cars. That has long ago disappeared. With regard to cabooses, there was one, rather ragged looking, parked on tracks just west of the BNSF Temple yard. I was the cupola type, but it has since disappeared. A couple of years ago, I was on a trip down State Highway 36, and the BNSF runs down this stretch of road for a couple of hundred miles. Anyway, outside of Cameron, Texas, there was a work train with a beat up caboose on the rear. For the life of me, I cannot recall the railroad the caboose came from, but that's old age setting in. Cabooses are not cheap. As noted, I googled some sites. I figured getting it to your site would cost a lot of money. When I go to Schertz, Texas, which is a northern suburb of San Antonio, there's an intact caboose parked in front of a business on FM 78. No railroad insignia. Then I've seen the restored Katy caboose at the rail center museum in Katy, Texas. Seems like yesterday, but it was in the 60's and early 70's that the Katy was up and running. I worked as a brakeman for the SP, and we crossed an interlock system where the Katy Houston yard used to be.

Very nice video of all those cabooses! It makes me wonder what necessitates using a caboose on a modern railroad. It seems like a lot of the shots of modern trains with cabooses are running in reverse out on the main. Thanks for sharing!! Joel
@JawTooth
@JawTooth 7 жыл бұрын
Most cabooses are used for when the train has to make long reverse moves and they need someone on the rear watching for safety. They are mainly used as shoving platforms and just a spot for the crew to ride while looking out for obstacles. Thanks for watching and please subscribe to Jawtooth!!

Interesting video and selection of cabooses (or guards vans in the UK). I have never seen inside an American Caboose before. I have to say that they are in a variety of conditions from good to falling apart. The one that appears at about 5:30 looks like a rusty hen house and is in need of some serious renovation. In fact it reminds me of some of the cars that we used to drive as youngsters in the 1970's that would never be allowed on the roads today!

At 10:15, that has got to be the weirdest Chesapeake & Ohio paint scheme I have ever seen - replacing the 'C' in 'Chesapeake' with the Chessie 'C' logo. Maybe C&O should have started doing this LONG before becoming Chessie System in '72...

In the states its rare to see a caboose. They are only used on locals that have to do long back up moves as a safe place for the train men to stand. They left the freight trains back in the mid 1980s and were replaced with the FRED: Flashing Red End of train Device. Tourist trains also have them. Are they common in your country?

@@JawTooth I always wanted to own one of those ! I remember when I was a child and lived in the country with tracks going right next to the house ( about 50 yards from the house ) we ( my brothers and Sisters used to go out and get the engineer to blow the horn and we would stand in our yard and the guys on the cabbose used to throw us all kinds of candy ! The train yard was across the road from us and I use to be able to go over and sit and spend time with the rail master ( that's what they used to call the guy who directed the trains ! It sure was a good childhood back then ! The way they used to let trains know that they had to stop at the train Masters station ( not sure if they still do it somewhere else ) but they had a device that they would strap on the rail and when the train ran over it , it sounded like a couple M80s going off ! It sure was a good memory for me and I love your videos ! May God Bless you and keep you safe ! Keep on rolling down the tracks !

My father spent much of his time in a caboose as a conductor or rear brakeman. Did spend one day with him many years ago.

I'm working on a followup video to this one. I have about 9 more trains with cabooses that I filmed after I made this video. I wish I could film that Tulsa sub caboose. Thanks for watching!
