Harrisburg is a train watchers, train lovers paradise. Growing up in Enola, I literally had trains in my front yard!

At 3:22 I also saw the trailing unit a white face dash nine in Chattanooga, Tn. He is in the deadline awaiting to be rebuilt into an ac44c6m.

I live in Marysville. When I was a kid, you could always tell where Enola was, no matter where you were in the Harrisburg area, because of the black smoke hanging over it. Much cleaner now. I let my dogs swim at a boat ramp very near the Rockville Bridge. You can catch Walleye and Muskies around the pilings. I noticed you took some video from the "Railfan Bridge" on River Road, the one with the camera holes in the fencing.

Around 29 minutes is that I81 crossing the Susquehanna River? As i mentioned earlier, I grew up in NJ. My grandmother lived around York, PA (Shrewsbury) so we travelled that road many a time. Regarding the Jersey Central from your other video, yes that green color was standard plus they also ran a Jersey Central passenger train (green pullmans) from NYC to burbs back and forth for years.

Yes, that is Interstate 81.. I've been over it hundreds of times myself!.. Didn't know that about the Jersey Central.. Thanks for sharing.

The metal structure near your camera position and one further down in the foreground, which seems to span the tracks, were what at one time? Signal bridge? That would be the 11:50 mark.

One comment, those boots dangling off the NS signal tower is the universal sign that someone in the locality is dealing crystal meth.

Nice video! I work at PennDOT in the Capitol Complex. Most of these scenes are very familiar to me, but they don't seem like good places to be hanging out for hours. I have been to the bridge at the end of the Enola Yard a few times, but I hate it there. The way trains start moving but then stop before they get to where I'm at and the fact that they could appear a number of different tracks without warning frustrates me. And how to you get to the place in Perdix? Isn't that off limits?

Not where I was standing.. I didn't go past the "No Trespassing" sign.

Kinda silly question since I am not familiar with Harrisburg, but which line sees more trains in a day through Harrisburg? Pittsburgh Line or Harrisburg/Buffalo Line? Just thought I'd ask because I am visiting family that lives in Harrisburg in May, 2020 and was wondering where the best spot is to watch trains since I'll have the chance to do so.
@Trains215 жыл бұрын
Pittsburgh and Harrisburg Lines.. Buffalo Line not very busy.

Did you get any footage of the DL/NS wreck in Delaware County NY, or is that too far out of your way?

Never even heard about it.. The D-L doesn't run in NY.. Must have been another GVT railroad.

how many trains a day total for the city of Pittsburgh
@Trains215 жыл бұрын
Don't know, but they get at least 20 or more.. Maybe up to 50.
@jacksonslaterelevatorraila64445 жыл бұрын
bit off there-60 a day for NS because 4 of it's busy mains go thru the city and one spot where three converge than the busy CSX Pittsburgh sub that handles around 30 to 36 a day than Amtrak at 4 a day making for a total of about 90 to 100 a day

Late reply but its in Enola on Rt 15 I believe, you would have to park at one of the businesses nearby then just cross the road. It's safe enough.
