34092 "City of Wells" final runs | East Lancashire Railway - 'Fare-Wells' 01-02/01/2023

Ah City of Wells... First steam engine my boys saw on the KWVR in the 80s. I've photographed it many times on preserved railways and on the main line and ridden behind it on my "local" line - the East Lancs. Thank you for travelling up and giving us this swansong.

Very good video. I never personally saw or heard 34092 in steam (only in videos). Entirely my fault. Saw it in bits in Haworth Shed a long long time ago. Only visited the ELR once in July 2019 for the Diesel Gala, which turned out to be my last ever visit to any preserved line.

Excellent video of this unique engine, I've got fond memories of DMU's in the 80s on the Hull to Bridlington run, they would usually red line the engines in every gear!!!!! thanks very much for braving the elements and sharing, and I hope you have a very happy new year!!!!

Great start to the year Matthew👍👍👍👍 Last time I saw Wells was at Carnforth shed next to F Scotsman - many summers have past since then, must get out more!!! Despite the Giesl ejector she still has steam clinging around the deflectors, but doesn't she sound good??

This particular Bulleid has a more unique look to most Bulleids, which I prefer because Bulleids are pretty common in preservation, but 34092's tender and valve gear made her different, meaning people loved her. It's a good send off for her.

There are other Bulleid pacifics in preservation which run with the same tender and valve gear configuration, for example 34081. However, 34092 is the only one fitted with a Giesl Oblong Ejector, giving it a distinctive bark and it does well to lift the exhaust above the drivers view.
