Super. I like Thomas and friends, and even watched the show that Ringo made when it came out. A very nice layout. P.S. I actually bought a new original Atlas HO scale EMD SD-24 for my railroad, decades ago, and pulled out the locomotives motor and replaced it before it had a scale mile on it. I did want a second SD-24, but it was far easier and cheaper at the time to replace the Atlas turntable motor that died (I bought it used) with an original motor, and get a new motor for the locomotive. I am happy to say that both almost fifty year old SD-24 locomotives, the turntable, and a first run very old HO scale motorized Bachmann Thomas the tank engine 0-6-0 locomotive and Annie and Clarabel the coaches still operate inside and outside on my railroad to this day. There are two nice train museums close to me. The Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden has mostly real trains, and they have train rides, models, a turntable and roundhouse, and sometimes Thomas is there. They just acquired more land, so they will be adding more trains. The Colorado Model Railroad Museum is in Greeley, and has a huge model train layout as well as train displays and artifacts, and maybe Thomas and friends, if you are there at the right time. 💙 T.E.N.

The problems seemed to be occurring where Hornby and Bachmann coaches were hitched together. Might be something about the coupler size differences or the different diaphragm protrusions. Or maybe the stiffness of the bogie swivels is different. If your track is Code 100, the Hornby wheels should be fine.

No, these are bachmann models. But they do look a lot like the real props! Also the screen used models were a larger scale called gauge 1, those are HO scale 😀

Nah, they're off-the-shelf OO scale models by Bachmann and Hornby (though the Bachmann ones are labeled as HO, which uses the same gauge track, because OO is more a British thing). They're not as detailed, some don't even have open cabs or cab windows, and the older ones have some proportion issues because HiT made Bachmann reference the stock clipart instead of the show models directly (which is why James for the longest time had gray wheels) The show models were, as the other fellow said, Gauge 1 - which is far larger.

Fun fact: Gordon is actually stronger than Henry because in real life the A3 Pacifics (Gordon and Flying Scotsman) are much stronger than the black 5’s (Henry). An A3 can pull a consist of 12 coaches with ease on the mainline no problem. The black 5’s on the other hand could probably pull about only 8 or 10.
