Mark et al, thank you so much. I played this course with my father in 1990 on our grand tour of Ireland and it brings back wonderful memories which, unfortunately he isn’t here to share. It was blowing a hooly and raining, even though we were there in August and I recall a 140 ish par 3 over a huge valley where we were hitting drivers into wind and not making it, repeatedly and laughing like hyenas on the tee and hitting another.......great times. Thanks again, memories eh........

lol - that must have been the 13th. I have a similar memory from the 12th where a PW turned into a 5-iron one day 😄

Couldn't agree more with your wonderful memories of Tralee, and the 13th in particular. My wife and I visited southwest Ireland in June for our 25th anniversary, and Tralee immediately zoomed it's way to the absolute top of my all-time favorite golf experiences.. Better than the Old Course, better than Hawaii, better than anything I've experienced. Almost a spiritual connection. We had really nice weather overall. A bit of drizzle on holes 10-12, but the blue sky came out as we got to the 13th. Our caddie Mike (best decision of the day was to have a caddie) looks at me, and says "134 yards, playing 165 - whatever you hit, swing it full." I followed his instructions, and put it about 20 feet from the hole. Then he turns to my wife, says "110 yards", and hands her DRIVER. She looked at him with a funny expression, because she normally hits her driver 175-190 yards with a fairly low trajectory. Mike said "hit the driver full, and drill it into the bank behind the green. If you hit it solidly, the ball will come back down the hill and onto the green." She stepped up and hit a low bullet right over the flag and into the hill.. about 5 seconds later, the ball emerged from the taller grass, and continued to trundle down onto the green, finally settling 3 feet from the hole.. And yes, she made the birdie putt. If I had one course to play for the rest of my life, it would be Tralee - thanks Mark for creating this video, and letting me relive it!!

I love dogs, but I agree with Mark. Keep them on a leash and when you meet people then on a short leash. I had a Husky years ago a very friendly dog that wouldn’t hurt anybody. But I always shortened the leash when I met someone in the street just to show that I was in control of the dog and respected their right to be there too.

Fantastic par on 3 Coach!! Tralee was my home club as a junior and was where I learned to play. I’ve been looking forward to this vlog in a big way. Funny you mentioned playing off the beach on 2. We used to do that all the time. Mostly due to a sliced drive but it was a great option! With the tide out the ball would run a mile. On in two was a real possibility. Sadly they made it OB after a while. Some great holes ahead! Can’t wait for 7,8,12,13, etc etc. 😀
