Tram AGGRESSIVELY RINGS BELLS to get through, traffic blocking the path

As traffic tried to keep clear the one set of tracks due to backed up traffic on the other side, not all cars behind were able to get through and clear the intersection; The blue Ford Ranger Raptor cleared the lanes of car traffic right behind him but thus blocked the tram tracks - there's literally not a single spot where he wouldn't block anyone at that point; The approaching tram aggressively rings the bell at him and the grey VW van to make them move and clear the tracks; Thatfor, the car ahead even went through the red light and moved into the intersection to give the van behind a bit more space.
The Ranger reversed and after the tram went through went back onto the tram tracks to keep the lanes of traffic behind him clear; Unfortunately he had to reverse a 2nd time for another tram going the other direction right afterwards; Only then the red traffic light finally turned green

he did so because no matter where he stood, he was always blocking someone's path; By driving back onto the tracks he cleared the lanes of traffic in the intersection, for traffic coming from the left and left-turning traffic coming from straight ahead

I've learned this in driving school, unless there's enough space to stop and NOT obstruct anything else, don't enter the junction. It doesn't matter if it's green, if the car ends up blocking off the junction it's their fault. But this requires situational awareness and reasoning, which of course many people don't have any more.

@@computername thing is: both his and the next traffic light were green. He couldn't know or expect traffic in front of him stopping at a green light, and at the point they did, he had already entered the intersection right behind them. Thus he literally had no chance to keep the intersection clear. But it gets worse: see the two lanes which are shut down in the foreground? Imagine there's no construction zone and those lanes are open to all traffic. When someone follows the traffic laws and stops at the red light, or stops in order to not block the 2nd pair of tram tracks, he might still be blocking the other set of track tracks we just passed. At this intersection it's often not possible to follow all traffic laws as by trying to do so there's a high chance you'll automatically violate some other traffic laws

​@@followthedamntraincj5058 Fair enough. Then the authorities should probably change the lights or traffic routing. Public transport can only be attractive if it's prioritized in traffic. I'm not a fan of car-centric design in the first place. It's an inherent problem with trams, if possible I prefer secluded rails. Much less likely to be disrupted by cars. Of course this is in Munich. Not a fan of the city tbh.

First off: the trams in both directions have a yield sign. Apart from that: cars HAD TO stop right there. A few cars ahead stopped at a green light in order to keep the other set of tram tracks clear. The other cars behind had already entered the intersection at that point and no matter where they had stopped, it would always have been in the path of other road or rail vehicles. There's no spot where they wouldn't have blocked them

@@airmartin5829 the blue car up front has already crossed the stopping line in order to give more room to the cars behind. And no law dictates drivers to reverse back. As I said: NO MATTER WHERE they would have stopped, they'd always be in someone's path then. That intersection layout is ... problematic; And once more than one or two cars are stopped at the red light in the intersection, keeping the one set of tram tracks clear, the other set of tram tracks will automatically be blocked. Same when there's a truck stopped at the red light in the intersection.

nur kann der Fahrer des Fords auch nicht wirklich was, egal wo er gehalten hätte, er hätte überall und immer jemanden in der Kreuzung blockiert. Wenn die Autofahrer (egal ob die Ampel noch grün zeigt oder schon rot ist) bei der Ampel in der Kreuzung anhalten, gerade um die andere Tramtrasse nicht zu blockieren, dann reicht schon ein 2. Auto oder auch nur ein einzelner LKW aus, um damit die dahinter liegende Tramtrasse zu blockieren ... wie man es macht, ist es falsch. Ich würde aber sicherlich nicht, nur weil hinten eine Tram nicht durch kommt, deswegen einen Rotlichtverstoß begehen. Und viele Trambahnfahrer haben sich auch nicht mti Ruhm bekleckert, denn die haben ein Vorfahrt gewähren Schild, haben teils selbst die Fahrbahn komplett blockiert (also kein Deut besser als die Autofahrer) und haben teils zu sehr gefährlichen Situationen nicht unwesentlich beigetragen, z.B. die Weiterfahrt während der querende Verkehr grün hat und bereits fließt, sowohl auf der Straße, Radweg und Fußweg. Da kam es zu teils Gefahrenbremsungen von sowohl anderen Verkehrsteilnehmern (die grün hatten) und der Tram (die einfach weiter gefahren ist)

@@followthedamntraincj5058 Danke erstmal für deine sehr ausführliche Rückmeldung und Ansicht. Die Lösung dazu ist eigentlich relativ simpel. Bei Rückstau und grüner Ampel an der Haltelinie vor der Kreuzung stehen bleiben. Ich weiß, Stachus/Lenbachplatz sind sehr triggie. Natürlich gibt es bei den Tramfahrern auch nicht die Besten, das ist logisch. In diesem Punkt ist die Stadt München im sehr dringenden Handlungsbedarf. Eine wesentliche Entschärfung dürfte die Entfernung der Ampel zwischen den Straßenbahngleisen bringen.

@@niklashstraenbahnvideos9427 die Problematik ist: wenn vorne, mitten in der Kreuzung, ein VTN erkennt dass hinter der Kreuzung Stau ist und er deswegen bei grüner Ampel anhält, um die Trasse frei zu halten, das kann ein anderer VTN zwei drei Fahrzeuge hinter ihm weder sehen, noch ahnen, und zu dem Zeitpunkt befindet er sich dann bereits auf der Kreuzung und hat keine Chance mehr vor der Haltelinie zu halten. Klar gibt es auch die, die es herausfordern und noch rüber fahren auch wenn sie eigentlich nicht mehr können und sollen, aber vielen anderen kann ich da auch gar keinen Vorwurf machen in der Situation. Letztendlich kommt die Situation im Alltag da weniger zustande, aber mit der hier zu dem Zeitpunkt bestehenden Baustelle, wo insgesamt 4 Fahrstreifen aus 2 Straßen zu nur noch einem einzigen verbleibenden Fahrstreifen verjüngt wurden, da war natürlich ein entsprechendes Verkehrsproblem. @@Penglorrrd hält auch nur EIN LKW an der roten Ampel in der Kreuzung, ist der Gleisbereich hinter ihm sofort blockiert und nichtmal mit gutem Willen frei zu halten. Es ist schlichtweg nicht möglich und absolut schlecht geplant bzw umgesetzt an der Stelle. Es war an der Stelle aber auch dutzendfach zu sehen, dass sich Straßenbahnen dann ihre Vorfahrt erzwungen haben - bei bereits fließenden Querverkehr auf der Straße, Radweg und Fußweg. Mit entsprechenden Gefahrenbremsungen auf beiden Seiten. Und auch ich würde nach vorne setzen und auf den Gleisen halten, wenn ich andernfalls 40 Fahrzeuge von links auf mich zukommen habe, die wenn sie nicht weiter kommen, übrigens ebenso die Tram blockieren werden im weiteren Verlauf. "Stell dir vor die Tram wäre eine S-Bahn" ... sorry, absolut unnötiges Argument. Warum nicht gleich ICE, oder Schiff? ... es gibt hier keine S-Bahn Querung, und überall wo eine S-Bahn in der Stadt und den umliegenden Landkreisen eine Straße ebenerdig quert, besteht ein Bahnübergang der lange lange im Voraus dicht macht

@@TrainFanGermany er war bereits IN der Kreuzung, als die Fahrzeuge vor ihm an der grünen Ampel im Kreuzungsbereich angehalten haben, um die anderen 3 Gleise frei zu halten. Nachdem er an den Fahrzeugen kaum vorbei oder durch schauen kann, entsprechend nicht sieht was jenseits der Kreuzung ist und nicht erwarten kann dass die bei einer grünen Ampel anhalten, kann man ihm hier kaum einen Vorwurf machen
