They need to make a law that says trams are _only_ allowed to follow the tracks. This way it would be super easy to predict where a tram is moving: - Are there tracks here? - Yes - I need to move, because a tram might come along these tracks. - No - I'm safe... Trams only follow tracks, so as long as I'm not on the tracks, I can't collide with one. I think implementing this policy would literally make it impossible to have an accident, and also even the dumbest person can recognize train/tram tracks.

Respect to both tram and train operators alike for putting up with pedestrians not paying attention and cars on a daily basis. You need to have a strong mental state with everything thrown at ya first hand. Used to live in Jersey City and there they have the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail which stretches across Hudson County at 17 miles. Reminds me of a crash on the light-rail back in 2017 in Downtown Jersey City where a fire truck was on its way to an emergency. They thought they'd be able to beat the light rail coming as they crossed the intersection...they didn't. The light rail rammed into it causing a big bang. Four firefighters were injured, with one having a broken arm and ribs while another suffered a leg fracture. Other vehicles underestimate how powerful trams and trains are and that's the problem. People have to remember that trains and trams aren't just transit, they're absolute tanks!

Lots of trams and trolleys in the United States have 3 warning devices. A bell, a strangled horn, and a loud train horn with 2-5 horns. The loud horn is usually only for emergencies or rural areas.

In the Netherlands, trams *do not* have priority on zebra crossings, avoiding a lot of the confusing (at least to pedestrians) and dangerous situations in these clips. They also do not have priority when crossing a priority road. They do, however, have priority in all other cases, which still makes taking the tram loads faster than taking the bus or a car.
@roy_hks6 жыл бұрын
Lennart Goosens Sadly barely any city in the Netherlands has Trams... My city (Groningen) does have a LOT of separate buslanes. And triple-busses driving on H2O tho. So it's still fast and not too harmful for the environment.
@roy_hks6 жыл бұрын
Genes It really depends on what city you live in, and where you need to be.
@lennartgoosens6 жыл бұрын
