Thanks doc! Those old capacitors have always been trouble. And that fuse!🙄 But I got in a radio one time with a piece of copper pipe in place of the fuse. When I asked the guy why he did that, he told me that he got more power out of it with a hunk of pipe instead of a fuse! On a few radios that I wanted to look original, I have opened the capacitors, taken out their guts and replaced it with modern capacitors. They are so much smaller that they fit inside of the can. Then I sealed them up again. Lots of work, but it looks original.

Another radio with that Collins mechanical filter was the Regency Ranger. Why they would equip an inexpensive a.m. mobile radio with one, I have no idea. People used to buy them just so they could remove the filter and use it elsewhere.

& it's the really nice radio that 'smokes' if you chance it.

IIRC, the Titan 2A is nearly electrically identical to the Titan 2. The difference is the new woodgrain cabinet versus the old military design. Both radios transmit AM/DSB, or double sideband, but with the advent of cheap Japanese radios featuring true SSB Tram went back to the drawing board and released the new Titan 3.

A JB-150 would be better. JB-200 don't like to be turned down that far. I don't think I have a good 150 though.
