A really interesting posting, thanks. The design of the lower-floor cars in 1992 must have been revolutionary.

@IP5 Hello, I am pleased that you like the film. Alas, I do not know what happened with those trams. I will ask some people - 'yahoogroups' 'eurotrams' in English. Perhaps someone will know. Simon

Elles étaient vraiment magnifiques cette rame PCC/Heuliez ex-553 puis 001 et enfin 953 que l'on voit passée au début de ce même petit film. (0:40) Qu'est-elle devenu ? Merci pour les réponses.

The streetcars bear a certain resemblance to those in Toronto.

Yes, you are right, and there is a good reason for this. Toronto uses CLRV (Canadian Light Rail Vehicles) which are based on PCC Streetcars, and some of the trams in St Etienne are also based on PCC streetcars.

Were they built around the same time? Toronto's CLRVs were built 1979-83, the ALRVs about 1988. When were the ones in St. Etienne built?
