there isn't a better large knife/machete for under $20 than this tramontina. in brazil, tramontina has an excellent reputation. we're lucky to be able to get them for so cheap

You can cut anything you need to cut with a good machete, an axe, and a mora knife. All together costing less than 100 dollars.

I was gifted this machete when i turned 14, i beat the crap out of it for many years as a midwestern US outdoorsy son of a farmer. Batoning stuff, hacking down small trees, making rough bows, debranching firewood and clearing brush from the yard. Months worth of camping trips and days spent in the woods. I still have it :)

In the SW Texas desert, I have found you need a shovel, a hatchet, and a machete... So in all my adventures, trials and trails I have a Cold Steel Spetnaz shovel (hatchet, shovel, heavy machete) with a mora and have been carrying along a small machete, I think this 12" tram would fit the bill perfectly and save weight over a big blade or longer tram

Ya got to cut the wood down before worrying about batoning it… easy to sharpen, time proven and you can flip burgers. Tramontina for the win.

Thank you for the great video! Here in Brazil, machete is the king of the jungle. The length of the machete depends on how dense the vegetation is. If there are brushes, vines and insects all over the place, people use 20" + machetes so they can protect their hands clearing the vegetation. In other places with less vegetation like subtropical forests, plains and semiarid zones, a shorter machete is more pratical and preferable. A small knife in secondary and some folks use kitchen knives from Tramontina or other similar brands or cheap hunting knives. The machete is the main blade most of the time and there are a lot of good and cheap brands of machetes in Brazil and South America. I´m talking about the real survivalists that live off the grid. Uncontacted indigenous peoples don´t even use anything made of metal. Middle class weekend adventurers, myself included, like fancy and expensive knives. Hahahaha!
