Ted I've been a follower for a while and have never had to change the blower wheel in that kind of housing the 3 years I've been doing this so far. Today that changed. When searching for instructions your video poped up first. Thank you for this. Keep being bad ass

Great video Ted. First time seeing the plastic blower housings. Our Bryant and Payne units just switched to plastic blower wheels a few months ago. They seem much easier to clean than the standard metal wheels, but time will tell on longevity... Most of the failed blower wheels like this we have found are do to excessive static pressure (plugged filters/ac coils, undersized ducts, oversized equipment) causing the blower to over-speed to the point centrifugal force pulls the wheel apart in the center. We were 60 degrees for Christmas here in MI so I had it easy this year. Happy Holidays!

That’s quite a bit of mildew/mold on that fan, I’d definitely offer some type of UV light or Airscrubber for that furnace if it were me.

wheel failed/got bent first and the metal fatigue/cracking followed from all the vibration. wonder if it was bent from the start

What type of fan motor is this? I have the same exact heatpump if that’s a 3 ton. Mines making a noise. Before it made the noise sounded like something in it backfired like a pop when heatpump would kick off. I took it apart now sounds like fan motor may had something explode in it or something. When it first blows air it blows to hard or something I can hear it inside the house like it’s gonna plow out the duct work. Then while blowing sounds like it’s missing a blade or something. Any help be greatly appreciated

I realize my comment it 2 years after this posted, but what the heck makes those wheels come apart or loosen up and go out of shape? That’s rather unacceptable quality in my opinion. I assume those come from China now too just like motors.
