Its really nice to see someone modify their gear to improve its usability. I found a supplier that has exact copies of the Trangia Mess Tins in three sizes, which are coated with a non-stick finish inside and out, suitable for open fire cooking. There is also a very neat Cordura bag to fit the small (800ml) Mess Tin which has space to fit other stuff.

Those trangia "mess tins" look like an over glorified tea tin. I love my Yugo mess kit but I'll be honest had a chuckle when you called the lid of the trangia a "frying pan", maybe it's just because I'm a Yankee
