Kinda related to the girl who said there are only two genders, my friend who I’ve known since 4th grade, called me and came out to me as non-binary today. I’m extremely happy that they felt like they could trust me and say that and I support them no matter what. Their parents didn’t support them and also said that there are only two genders, if their parents don’t support them then I will. So after they came out to me, I came out to them (that I’m sapphic, that I’m asexual, my pronouns). They made some pride flag bracelets too and showed me (gay, trans, nb, ace, Les, etc.). Don’t know why I said this, just thought I might say something.

“How can you be a man with a uterus” pretty easily actually. Like I’m pretty sure even an itty bitty amount of cis men have a uterus just thanks to birth abnormalities. I know for sure there have been men born with an ovary, but not totally sure about the uterus.
@bellarosethorne3 жыл бұрын
as far as a uterus specifically, i'm not sure that's as likely as the ovaries instead of testes - and that's just because of how that region forms. it's a pretty major difference comparatively, like, different tube remaining, plus changes in how the tube grows afterwards. The chances are much higher to find cis men that are chromasomally XX. Technical questions aside, I agree with the pretty easily tbh, just purely because trans men don't choose to be men, they just are men that were born with a uterus. The woman against saying people who have periods is so weird because even she had to put qualifiers on it. She said people who have periods are women are girls (except prepubecent and postmenopausal women's). She can even recognise that women and girls isn't a specific description of people who have periods.... Why not also include trans men, non binary and intersex people when talking about periods to be accurate (jk I know why, because transphobia)
@derekhasabrain3 жыл бұрын
Its honestly hilarious how she even had to say "men who don't have uteruses" like okay obviously ANYONE who doesn't have a uterus is not likely to have a period, male or female. I'm gonna go off on a tangent for a minute: I'm a trans guy, but let's assume for the sake of argument that the transphobe have is correct: I'm a woman because I was born with a uterus. Thing is, I don't have periods naturally (PCOS) so I have to take hormones to have a period so I don't get cancer. I also never grew any secondary sex characteristics that we deem typical of the gender binary (no breasts or adams apple) because of my pcos. So why do transphobes think I'm a woman? I would have to (and have) taken hormones to induce some basic functions of puberty. Why is it okay (in their minds) for me to take estrogen/progesterone/whatever-the-fuck-is-in-BC pills but it's somehow not okay for me to be taking testosterone? Estrogen reduces the chances of me dying of uterine cancer, testosterone reduces the chances of me dying from suicide. I'm likely infertile either way (not that it matters because I don't want to have kids) so what's the difference? Why do I have to take the hormone that transphobes tell me to take? They don't get to make medical decisions for me, and it's not like people pull down each other's pants before using s/he on people. It. Does. Not. Affect. You. You're afraid of being "tricked into being gay"? Cool beans, 1) that's not how sexuality works and 2) trans people don't want to date you anyway. Fuck off. Edit: some folks in the comments think that I'm taking both T and hormonal BC. I've never taken T. My PCOS gave me high testosterone levels which gave me a naturally "abnormal" puberty. When I get to a place where I can transition without risk of becoming homeless, I will consider taking T. Thank you for your concern over how painful PCOS can be- I got an extremely gentle case. I don't menstruate naturally, I never grew breasts, and it's incredibly difficult to lose weight, but it doesn't cause me painful cysts or anything. The lack of menstruation concerned my doctor and gyno and they told me that I have to menstruate or I'm at high risk of uterine cancer. Menstruation sucks, but cancer sucks worse, so I got a nexplanon and then a hormonal IUD. I'm a big boy, I can suck it up and menstruate to prevent cancer. That said, mother nature is a cruel bitch, subjecting children to that miserable ride. I prefer it the way I had it: no real puberty till after you're an adult.
@Envision_3 жыл бұрын
The fundamental difference between gay rights and trans rights is that gays aren't bullying themselves into people's spaces making demands, labelling people (cis?) and forcing people to believe in stuff that doesn't align with their observable reality. I have some radfem friends who don't have a problem at all observing someone's preferred pronouns, they just don't want self ID'ed males with full set of male genitals around girls and women in sex segregated spaces. And if they say so, why should that be even up for debate? Why do trans people want to transplain men and women what those words mean? Why do transctivists pretend to speak on behalf of LGBT people? I am LGBT and they don't speak for me.

Fun fact: in Farsi/Persian, there is no gender grammatically. There are only names for genders but no pronouns or verb endings or whatsoever indicating a specific gender. So basically, no one can insult someone else. As a linguist and as a person who loves everyone and cares for everyone, I really appreciate that.

Daisy yes there is only one neutral pronoun. No gender specific :) for example if you read a sentence out of context without any given name only using pronouns, you won’t know the gender of the person which the sentence is talking about.

Awkward Ukulele there is only one for she/he (read it like the “u” in “Uber” lol written: او)and one for it (inanimate objects). Basically when you want to refer to someone, you don’t refer to any gender, just a living human. So even if people want, they can’t insult someone by misusing a pronoun 😂which I think is pretty cool!

On the topic of "only women" having periods... uhm, even if she doesn't want to believe trans guys are men, she's still wrong. Cause a cis-men can have a period. Though rare there are several known cases of cis-men having Endometriosis. You can't have endometriosis if the endometrial tissue isn't active. Those poor guys, do indeed menstruate each month; and whether she likes it or not, this does indeed count as a man having a period.
