It does kind of annoy me that some women say that being feminine used to be a green flag and now it’s a red flag, because gender expression isn’t really about being a good or bad person. Yeah you would hope somebody more comfortable with exploring their gender is less of an asshole, but also I feel like it implies that feminine men were only desirable in the first place because it made them safer, not because feminine men are attractive. The fact is unfortunately that a lot of cis men are terrible sexist jerks no matter what their gender expression is like. I get the point but it is pretty invalidating to have your gender expression reduced to a measure of how safe or unsafe you are to date or to assume that anytime a toxic man is presenting more feminine it’s just a pretense to put people’s guards down.

I would argue even a preference against trans men or women is likely to change if you met the right trans person. Honestly same goes for a preference against cis men or women. Obviously preferences make it more likely to seriously pursue relationships with certain people over others though.

4:58 also I know a few trans men who are lesbians. Like this stuff is complicated. And being a lesbian doesn’t mean you won’t ever change your gender or end up dating someone who is not a woman. It just means being attracted to women in an inherently queer way is a part of your identity. And that can be the case no matter who you date or what gender you are.

@@sojabursche people outside the gender binary can be lesbian but binary men can’t be. It’s not about choosing someone’s label it’s about labels having meaning. That’s like saying I’m trans while identifying with my assigned gender or claiming to be a gay man while dating women. If you’re a man (cis or not) or attracted to men, you’re not lesbian. That is literally the opposite of a lesbian. I can guarantee if any cis man claimed to be lesbian y’all would not take it seriously but for some reason trans men can be lesbians even though they’re still men. That’s not how it works
