I do a lot of full restorations but sometimes a bit of paint on lesser quality wood (and especially plastic laminate coated wood, or Formica) can keep something structurally sound from being tossed just because it’s a bit rough or dated cosmetically. I'm generally against push-latches (they're usually a cheap cop-out from finding appropriate hardware)...but the reasoning behind using them in this instance was perfection! It allowed you to use the original, beautiful hardware and actually emphasized the verticality of the cabinet veneer. Gorgeously done faux bois work, as well!!!

I love watching your restorations. My husband and sons are Metal artisans, but when my husband redid my midcentruy butterfly table and my European Art Deco bedroom suite he used lacquer instead of shellac. Then on many other pieces got a perfect mirrored finish using lacquer. I think because of the particular lacquer and his profession he was familiar with the outcome he could achieve with lacquer. In my persoanl opion shellac takes an expert (experientially) especially using the (stain?) flakes to achieve that perfect color. Kudos,You are1 Super-Talented Visionary.

Gorgeous! I so want to learn to do this type of work! No clue how to find someone to teach me so it’s minor restorations for now. Your work has inspired me to do something before summer gets into full swing. Thanks for sharing your work.

What a gorgeous transformation! I can't believe those doors - not a trace of the holes from the hardware! And the hardware looks brand new. Your meticulous artistry is inspiring, as always.

Well it hasn't stopped raining here since June - we've had issues on the other end of the spectrum with flooding and washouts. What a weird summer Nova Scotia had!

Just absolutely magnificent Angie. I love art deco, having moved to Miami years ago. You’ve done this piece proud. I also dig that it was a nice long video. The longer your videos the more I like them. Hoping you’ll transform more art deco pieces. This one was monumental. Congratulations on your new kitty.

This piece turned out beautiful. I absolutely love the older style furniture. Glad you opted to stain rather than paint. Great job.

I do a lot of full restorations but sometimes a bit of paint on lesser quality wood (and especially plastic laminate coated wood, or Formica) can keep something structurally sound from being tossed just because it’s a bit rough or dated cosmetically. But I like to restore certain woods whenever possible. 🙂

Hi Angie! Freya and Nacho are adorable together. Maybe Willow is just being a snooty girl?! The vanity turned out nicely. Good solution for the missing hardware. Cheers! 😺💞

No Willow is just much slower to come around, she's not really even a fan of Nacho. Willow and Willie are very close and he's the only cat she really cares about. Thanks so much for watching!

Wow! This looks great! I like the darker finish. It hides any lingering imperfections from stains on the veneer and makes the brass drawer pulls pop. Love your solution for the missing hardware. Excellent work!
