If you are going to give us the steps, be sure to give us all the steps. It is necessary to partially set up the new device first so that it can select the appropriate WiFi network. This needs to be done prior to scanning the code on the old device or the older phone will not respond to the setup.

How about if you already setup your new phone with hours of work and now you want to transfer your text messages from the old for example? How can you invoke that "get started" step from a phone already running?

@@alipainting to save you the bother, there is no way other than to start all over again by doing a factory reset, or you can buy a third party app that will allow you copy specific data from the old to the new

Dear Dion I hope you are well. I follewed you instructions precisely. However, my PDF files in my old phone are organised in a chronological order according to the date. After, the transfer process ended, the PDF files in the new phone were transferred in a complete random order. I trued to use the menu at the top to organise them according to date, but it organises them according to the minutes and seconds that were marked by the new phone during the transfer process. Will it transfer pdf files. As I have recently transferred data from my old device to new one using this method. My data has been transferred except for pdf files. Loose Pdf files and folders containing pdf files has not been transferred. Plz guide whey this happens. Is there is any step I skip or does pdf files are not transfered

nice. turns out I just have a have an old phone samsugn s8+, google accounts and many apps were apps not transferred-it was a pain. My Poco x3 Pro suddenly died which has the pretty newish Android OS to support latest Playstore and apps 11:18 you actually want to maintain an old phone as backup if new phone gets misplaced or becomes dead prematurely. This the reason why I'm plannning to buy new tablet with SIM as a backup phone despite having bought a new phone just a few weeks ago.

What about WhatsApp??? I thought it was essential to first ensure things like WhatsApp messages are been backed up - in my case to Google Drive and then on new phone download those Whatsapp messages to the bew phone from Google Drive. Likewise backing up and downliading SMS messages
