Most phones will have a transfer mode. Put it in that mode on the lenovo and use Smart switch on Samsung phone. Basically its a bit fidly because you are going from Chinese huiwei phone to samsung singapore phone.

I'm not real technologically minded but it makes sense that the new phone has to be registered with your carrier already because you were using the internet to get the Smart Switch app...so, that means that the old phone isn't internet capable at the point of "switching" so I have to make sure I have the Smart Switch app on the old phone before I switch the carrier service to the new phone....correct?

Depends mate. Some older phone already have the smart switch app software installed. I think the S7 had it. Otherwise yes it might be a download.

Is there a way to transfer everything without using the app. My S4 reboots or freezes a lot and when it do work alright it won't stay on for long time. You can use Windows PC to copy data to via USB cable or copy data to a sd card if you have have that on your phone.
