I’m afraid I can’t imagine a world in which I would let anyone hurt my dog for a sport goal. I absolutely love your solution! I never thought of transferring value to something else like that. Thank you!

I'm afraid that by saying that, you have just revealed your ignorance.

Wow! Have been playing this for about a week now and it has turned my very laid back young dog into a YEA! LETS DO ET! Incredible lol lol

This is exactl y my situation. Susan hat mentioned a dog loving bubbles somewhere. I bought some bubbles with bacon scent made extra for dogs. He wasn't crazy until I acted crazy for him. He caught one and his eyes spun. So he is crazy for bubbles now. But like Susan said her it just isn't practible. Da Vinci does understand later. So I tell him we do training and then bubbles. He does ok. (I think sometimes he forgets about the bubbles promise - but often he remembers. But I wanted to get him away from the bubbles as the main reward. I know about intermediate rewards but didn't think of doing it like this. Thank you once again Susan! You are making so many relationships better.

Can there be a transfer of value form food to vocal praise?

Sounds like my young dog lol - but I recently found out he goes cray cray for a balloon! My coach from Recallers directed me here lol :) .

Love that you found that out, Rosie! Great news, all you have to do now is transfer the value ❤️🎈

@@DogsThat - Thank you! We played on it straight after this video and it is now a two or three time daily quickie :) It's so exciting :) He had gut issues for most of his first year you see so to see him developing and playing is just so magic, watching his confidence grow :) xx

My dog seems to only be interested in certain reinforcers in certain environments. He loves to play tug in the house but if I take that same tug toy out to the garden or to the park he isn't interested. In the garden he likes to play with a soccer ball but if I take that to the park he isn't interested (if there's other people playing soccer there he goes nuts, though). Is it the same process to transfer the value so I can get him to play tug outside?

If it were me, I would go gradually outside - my pup wouldn't 'touch' outside - but he was great at it inside, so I kept practising inside, and gradually moved it outside, and in different environments, and now 'touch' is his go too anywhere - apparently dogs can't generalise behaviour so it just takes practise and confidence building in easy environments :)
