@@grahammacklam4736 what seed do you think you will use?
@grahammacklam47362 жыл бұрын
@@Premier_lawns_official The seed I used for my recent trial was a shady mix of 7 varieties. It's A1 lawns shady mix, fairly fine leaved. Its mix slightly varies depending on what they have most available at the time. Mine is 20% perenial rye, 35% strong creeping red, 15% hard fescue, 15% chewings fescue, 10% smooth stalked meadow grass, 3% bent, 2% wood meadow grass.

Great video!! What depth would you set your scarifier to after you killed off grass and what setting did you set your fertiliser spreader(I have a simular one) to for sowing grass seed. Thanks in advance!!
@JayRockGroundsMaintenance2 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert! For grass seed I set them hand spreaders all the way open, it could do with an extra couple of settings for seed in my opinion. Scarifier isn’t set to a direct height, but if you have killed the lawn I would say go as hard as you need to get it all okay, don’t be afraid to take it right back to soil😄
@BottleBrookGardens2 жыл бұрын
Hello mate, how do you figure out how many bags of top soil you need? Is there a specific meterage each bag will cover? Just pricing up a job here now.

Looking forward to seeing the end result. Sometimes you just have to do this. How often and for how long at a time should you put the sprinkler on after re seeding. Thanks.
@JayRockGroundsMaintenance2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Ray! I can’t wait for it to come through ! And keep you all updated 💪🏽💪🏽. Depends on the sprinkler and pressure I suppose mate but 15/20 minutes per area. You want it soaked but not flooding, there tends to be a fine line between them 😄. I water mine at least 3 times daily for the first 2 weeks and then slowly reduce from there depending on weather.
@Ray_ray112 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply. Would you say 3 times a day for 15 minutes. The sprinkler is a pulsating one (if you know what I mean). Thanks
@JayRockGroundsMaintenance2 жыл бұрын
@@Ray_ray11 if it’s pulsating then possibly closer to 30 minutes but again it depends on the structure of your lawn, as long as it’s not flooding and the seeds are floating then just ensure it’s been watered through enough 15-30 minutes should be adequate 😄

Such an informative video! Thank you :) i dont have a scarifier or aerator, so can i just manually rake it as much as I can and try to overseed?

Is there a reason why u aerate first and then scarify? don't the wholes get full up of the thatch which same mess ur in before you start the renovation as the holes full of thatch?
@JayRockGroundsMaintenance2 жыл бұрын
Hi there I explained this a few times in the video, at points where it would be more ideal to aerate. The reason this time I aerated to begin with was because the hire on the aerator had to be returned before I had time to scarify etc. yes it would be more ideal to aerate afterwards, in my case - this lawn is scarified regularly and had little to zero thatch in it at the point of killing off hence why you could see soil through the whole lawn 🙂. The way this process was done will not affect its progress at all 😄🌱

Sorry buddy, thinking of getting myself a cylinder mower are they reliable?
@JayRockGroundsMaintenance2 жыл бұрын
Oh massively ! If you got one brand new it would last you a lifetime, if you buy an older oner get one with a Kawasaki engine 👍🏼. Belts may need done now and again alongside with 12-18 month services, but they are great!
