My goal is actually to do LESS next year. I need to listen to my physical limitations more; pace myself and add self care, rather than making my to do lists too long. (I run our home and my mum's as I'm her carer, and have burnt myself out - physically and mentally - the past nearly 3years).

Hi Diane! I hope your Christmas was great! I am planning on doing the system whole heartedly and not being warm and cold about it. I have been following the flylady system off and on for just about 8 years and, wow, watching you for that long too 🤭(I didn't realize). I am good about it and then circumstances/life happens and I stop. This coming year, no! It will be part of my simplifying and thriving! I am also adding daily self care. Thank you for this video!

I have been enormously inspired by your closet decluttering as you prepare to downsize your home. I had a goal of decluttering 3 pairs of jeans and I got rid of at least a dozen. Instead of asking myself what I don't wear anymore, I got very specific about only keeping one pair of slim jeans to wear inside tall boots, no inseams less than 29", no low- or mid-rise waists, no skinny jeans or slims with knees that are too tight, and no uncomfortable heavy weight denim. No denim that is too light weight, light washed ( I prefer the T-3 dark washes) or baggy. Boot cut jeans are on probation to check if there is enough room around the knees. My 1981 Gloria Vanderbilt Jeans are finally going due to heavy weight, low-rise, and lack of stretch in the fabric. Someone else can get a kick out of wearing authentic vintage. I allowed myself a range of three sizes to accommodate my seasonal weight changes. What I am left with is a selection of jeans that fits my current style, flattering and comfortable fit, goes with my other wardrobe pieces and is enough for two weeks wear and can make up a full load of laundry (I wash denim and darks together). The hardest choices to make were the personal style questions. DYT helped, you helped and some other capsule wardrobe and style KZbinrs helped a lot. And you helped me accept the idea of permission to only keep the items that help me look and feel my best. 😢And it took me awhile to realize that skinny jeans, slim leg jeans, any kind of tapered leg pants and any kind of ankle pants or Capri pants are never going to be as flattering on my body shape as the other wide leg and straight leg pants that I added to my wardrobe more recently. And the extra space feels great too. More space to put away clean laundry. And clear criteria to declutter from the clean laundry basket. Just because I wore something does not mean it looked better than other options in my closet. I only did the one shelf and moved on to the next part of my day. That felt good. But the best feeling is having a plan for decluttering criteria which is really a plan for looking and feeling my best. Thanks for your teaching and inspiring. ❤️👗❤️🧺❤️🧦❤️👖❤️👟❤️👚❤️🧤❤️👢❤️👕❤️👖❤️

I loved reading your comment! I have plans to dig into my closet and whittle items down using basic criteria - do I like how I feel when wearing it. I really struggle with personal style and because I am carrying extra weight these days, I never feel like anything is flattering. I never can really narrow things down with DYT. I am not sure why I get overwhelmed when I look at it. Would you mind sharing the capsule wardrobe and style KZbinrs that helped you?

I have set up what I call my daybook for retirement (former teacher here). After years of using daily lists with some success, I decided in the autumn to try a list in combination with goal + outcome chart. Most goals are no more than 15 minutes per day. If I want to do more, okay. But I don't feel pressured to do more. This way, there is time every day for "play" (trip to the coffee shop/library, read a book, do a craft, go for a walk, etc.).

Diane, I have followed you for years, and I did watch this video when it was first released on the Get Organized Summit. At that time, I did think it was inspired and helpful! But now, at the New Year, I'm receiving it as the inspirational teaching that it is. I've been offered a part-time dream job in my retirement that I'd like to accept, but I know I've gotten so lackadaisical with my time that I was afraid to accept the position. So, watching this video this time, and TAKING NOTES, has empowered me to go forward without fear. I missed so much by not taking notes before (a start time and end time for the morning and evening routines? Brilliant!!! How have I missed that previously? 🤦🏻♀️) I am so excited now!!! Thank you and God bless you and your 2025!!!!

Same here! I started at the end of 2004. I didn't know Diane then, though. I found her through DYT! I got overwhelmed with emails and didn't know how to make them my own until Diane. I hope to make 2025 the year of simplicity for myself and my husband. My grandchildren just need my presence, not my perfection. 😊

I'm watched the whole video and I'm ready for 2025. You are so right about self care. It makes the other routines easier and the timer really teaches you that you do what you can in that time you don't have to do it all. Celebrate what you accomplished in those little 10 to 20 minutes and look past anything not Perfectly done, there will be another day.
