Doug let me tell you something here. I just got this Hensley hitch in the mail last week. I will be installing it this week. I’ve watch countless videos on how to install this hitch. (Including the Hensley companies video). Yours is the best explanation BY FAR of the many installation videos that I’ve watch. I can honestly say I feel very confident when I go to install my new Hensley hitch. Prior to watching your instruction video I was terrified!!! Now I’m cool as the other side of the pillow. I previously had a EZ-Hitch installed on my travel trailer. It was good I will say, but this Hensley is even better!!! I'm glad I took a chance on it and made the switch.

One thing I would have done is use some washers to raise the propane tank tray to avoid cutting the hitch part. Otherwise, good job.

We just installed our Hensley hitch yesterday and used your video along with the instruction book from Hensley. Your process of laying it all out and confirming the geometry prior to drilling the holes is something that Hensley should incorporate into their instructions. Install went well and we took a test drive on the interstate and the hitch is awesome! We have a 38’ Rockwood and had terrible sway issues. Feels totally different now! Thank you for this video.

We sold our old camper and with it, the hitch so we had to buy a new one for our new camper. Anyone who has towed with a Hensley understands that it's hard to go back to a friction hitch. For us, it was impossible. The Hensley not only eliminates sway, it also eliminates driver stress and white knuckle driving. What's not to love? 🙂 How are you liking yours so far? By the way, that chair you're using in the video. I'd love to get one. Can you direct me to where I can buy one?

Same. New subscriber here too. The best install video ive seen as well. We can't get our rv to our driveway, so we have to install at the storage. Good tips on what tools we may need that aren't listed. I'd hate to keep stopping to drive all the way back home. Great tip on the jack. For us it will be way better than taking 2 cars....just in case we need to run home.

@@DOUGandNIKI I got one and started installing based on other videos and thanks to your video I was able to find the issue I was having and fixed it all up. After lots of sweat and frustration, it was completed and rolls amazing. One thing I didn't see on your video but figured out on my own was raising and lowering the sway bars. I burned my emergency brake wires as they were in between the u-bolts, not cool but fixed it as well. thanks again for your awesome video.

Hello Doug and Niki... I found your site. I have a 2020 Sunset Trails 291RK My tow vehicle is an 02 Yukon Denali 6.0L I am relatively inexperienced w/ RV life etc.. Presently have a Equalizer W.D. & sway control hitch.. I do experience sway at times.. I stumbled upon this Hensley hitch and ProPride3 hitch.. I am looking around and trying to see what deals are out there. Concerns that I have is.. regarding the extra weight.. How will this impact me? I do have modified suspension with air bags and along with Monroe Maxi Air shocks. Can you provide anything regarding what model of Hensley I should be looking for or anything about differences in ProPride model?

I never tried ProPride but I have heard good things. This is the only model Hensley Hitch I tried and I had almost the same setup as you. It was nothing short of magical making the drive much better. Nothing is perfect but really a huge difference. Additionally the company was really nice to work with.

How many inches is the stinger drop? It looks like it has a 4” drop, but I’m not sure.

It's been a while but if I remember right they custom (probably have a couple basic settings) design that when you order it.

Thank you for the instructional video. I saw you used a Jack instead of using the tow vehicle the whole time. Others always use the tow vehicle. Besides ease of install, does it make a difference which one I use? I love the idea of using a Jack.

The jack just seemed like a much more flexible and easy to use option. I never tried it the other way. Did you get yours yet? You'll love it!

Unfortunately, your outside of my experience base. I haven't used or installed a CUB. How are you liking it?

@@DOUGandNIKI The Cub is the smaller version of the Arrow I believe. I bought it last month. I found it used, it's a year old Here in Csnada the Cub is about $3,000 to $3,500 after US currency conversion, taxes and duty.. So I grabbed it for $2k. We are looking at trailers now, Apex 185BH or Geo Pro 19BH. Looking, but with winter approaching it looks like a Spring purchase. Do you like the Hensley? Definitely not the cheapest hitch, but for me to feel that extra security I think it's worth it. I have a Jeep Weangler and that is like an aerodynamic brick so hopefully this hitch will help.

We just sold the RV as the market is still great but I really see our economy taking a nose dive so I thought I'd get out now and after the economy tanks I'll get back in cheap. None now, gave it away last week. I had a Crossroads Z-1 slide 28footer. 2013, Camping world sold it to me with a leak and I brought it back for warranty and was told it wasn't a leak, just the slide needed to break-in, so in between seasons it sat in the rain and leaked and leaked and the floor got saturated. of course CW will not honor anything so I got f'd out of 20k cash since I paid it in full . I will rent now when I go somewhere so its someone else's problem. I hope CW goes bust.@@DOUGandNIKI

Kept saying self-tapping screws and proceeded to pre-drill the holes. I’ve installed one of these before and I also pre-drilled the holes. They’re not actually self-tapping screws though, for the record.

My propane base is adjustable only left and right, not forward and back....without drilling new holes and moving it. Could be 6 of 1, 1/2 a dozen of the other.

Question, at 8:30 why did you not raise the propane tank tray so that it would fit? Is that something that you shouldn't do or you just chose to cut that corner?

@@DOUGandNIKI we ordered our RV and it’s being built next week. We are worried of trailer sway so we said that it’s better to be safe then sorry. We already have the Hensley hitch. We will be installing the Hensley hitch at the dealer ourselves because the dealer is like 1k miles from us and we are not willing to drive 1k miles without this piece of equipment. We might just take the propane bottles off and raise one side of the tray and then finish the raising at home and install the propane back on at home.

Hi Doug, I'm about to order mine (in the next hour or so) and I do have a question for you. Besides congratulating you for the excellent video (best one out there) I will like to know how you find out in the struts how many holes (3 in your case) needed to be? and the other question is, you adjust the struts after you hook up and before you move up the trailer jack? no one shows that part on any video neither how the weight is pushing down your vehicle...

I'm sure you'll love it! I have a tips/tricks video which I'll share the link too. I haven't been in our trailer for 2 months so I'm a little drawing a blank...I don't think it matters though. Once you've all latched up, adjust the arms and then take it off the jack is probably the easiest but I think you'd get to the same place if you reversed the order. You better ask them though... Let us know what they say!

Hi Ruben. I just installed the Arrow on my 37' Arcadia. The install manual gives you direction on that. There is a diagram of 3 type of hitch mounts. Depending on which style your trailer frame has it will tell you how many holes. Mine was 2 holes showing. Good luck!
