I am thankful. The babies crying in the background, along with babas words allowed me to actually weep for the first time in a long time. If they annoy you, revisit this meditation when you have a deeper calm in the mind. They might just annoy you because it resonates with the crying baby in you. Much love and shakti to all of you beautiful spirits.

I agree in theory with your point about the baby's crying, but I'm still quite a novice when it comes to meditation and still only one or two steps along this newfound path after spending the majority of my 28 years so far with a rather dim view of spiritual practice. My love of science as a vocation and pastime is a crucial aspect of who I am, but it's meant that the closest I came to a practice up to this point was encountered during my psychology education. That essentially consisted of an end-of-class meditation-based exercise by an old hippie professor of mine; which was viewed as whimsically-endearing by those doing a BSc. in psych. (versus the slightly more openminded BA students), but of little value outside of some minor anxiolytic benefits. So as experience goes, that equates to basically zero. _Anyway,_ my point is simply to say that I can appreciate the beauty of the child laughing, or even crying, without being able to then make the leap required to transcend it and either ignore or incorporate it into my meditation itself.

This is my ABSOLUTE favorite. I cry every time and always come back from the meditation feeling like I'm a whole new being. 🤍 Ram Dass' words have had more of an impact on my life, heart and soul than years of Catholic school and priests ever even came close to having.

That's a meditation I created for a meditation group I ran a few years ago... I'm sure that I'm not the first one to think of it... Obviously not lol... But it can be very powerful. I began with just having people imagine a random child and then pulled it into them seeing that child as themselves at their most vulnerable innocence as a child... I had more than one of the class crying.. I should have understood that it can be very very personally emotional. I felt bad after because I had not anticipated the level of pain it may bring about... I wouldn't advise it for a beginner class... Some people told me after how thankful they were. Others appeard to not have had a very good time... I was sorry...

I listened to this about two weeks ago (well, the version with the music) and before that time my Ishtadevata had been Lord Krishna. But while following the instructions of the meditation, Lord Shiva was the being that manifested in my chest. I don't know why. But it was so powerful. Especially when it grows inside you. If you can visualize this,it can be quite overwhelming. It brought a tear to my eye from the feeling of the Divine taking over my body. I felt so humbled. You feel quite insignificant in the worries of your in comparison to others but still connected to the rest of human kind. This has been the most moving meditation I've ever encountered. Thank you Ram Dass

For those who are at advanced stages and can meditate in perfect peace with the continuous noise of the nonstop baby babbling and crying in the background I truly admire your focus and I hope to someday be there. But since I am a beginner, unfortunately the innocent baby doing what babies do ultimately proved to be too much of a distraction for me to get any meditational use from this recording. For anyone starting out who struggles to reach the quiet place you seek through meditation I would recommend finding a different guided meditation for now.

The trick is to not focus and let everything fall away. The baby crying is the sound of the universe as much as your own breath. That you can hear a baby crying at all is evidence to your own existence, from nothing. You could be dead and not experiencing, but you aren't. You're alive. Thank the baby and smile. Relax.

Its a wonderful exercise specially for beginner. Learn to include the sounds around you. Its not different then the sounds of raindrops, of snow falling.. each sound, noise can make ubeven more relaxed, its an option isnt it? This sound can not have influence over the inner happenings, no. The moment where you choose on how to react to that sound (baby noises for instance) u use your greatest super power. The abilities of choosing between all the options of possible ways of responding, this is your will power, your strongest power. Remember this, relax decide on how to respond. Who you wanna be? when ever your attention gets drawn away from your state of relaxation or restful awareness, remember check out the options and choose. NoThing can take away this choice or force u to choose. Not even Mahadeva him self. He can appear in form of guru in frot of you but he can not make u choose or stop you from ur choice. Its your greates power. I choose to Rest in ParamaShivoham, immensely grateful for gur who delivered the teh teachings in such a beautiful way to us. sacred knowledge sacred cognition and sacred sentiments Om nithyananda paramashivoham

I'm trying to get to accepting the background! I know I have a lot of work to do because I keep thinking about why the parent would let that continue, I would have taken my baby out! I'm judging, hence the work needed! I probably would of thought I was helping and gone and grabed the baby and taken it out to play and distract ! 🙂✌🏼💜

Leigh Cornu my internal environment is hard enough and isn’t conducive to easy meditation with chronic pain so I prefer to not have to listen to kids. Plus it’s more about everyone else. If it was my kid, I would know not everyone wants a difficult meditation and most probably want quiet. It’s about respect.

You guys missed the whole point of this if you're talking about the lady and her baby like that. Ram Dass loved and accepted all as it is. I thought the sound of that young child was precious. There is nothing more beautiful that the sound of a new being wailing and moaning, to me its the sound of love, pain, and life! Shalom , Adonai, Shalom. ~Tohi~

Babies crying are the innocence of the young, dogs barking are just nature, a plane taking off is just a jet engine, an ambulance is just, c'mon man, sure the baby has an untrained mind, does this go for the parents too? I am a beginner too. The baby was bored, the parents distracted and so are others. Still applies today. If I have been here a million lifetimes already excuse me for being impatient with inconsiderate parents. So the baby is crying, I can always tune out and live another lifetime until I can focus. LOL

okay, for someone who is really into meditation it shouldn't be disturbing that almost throughout the whole session a baby is weeping and making typical baby-noises, that definitely distract me as a beginner from getting deep into the atmosphere of that meditation... having children myself, I just keep thinking about the baby and how can you keep the baby there and why didn't she get out and how were others not annoyed from those sounds all the time...!? but those were those hippie-times, I guess... ;-)
