I genuinely think this is Platinum's best work. It expands on the combat system of Bayonetta and adds a whole new layer of depth and momentum. Despite not having the same combo list as Bayonetta, the combat systerm has just as much depth to it. And the music and boss fights are some of the best this spectacle fighter genre has to offer, no joke.

"Crappy loot"... you do realize you were playing a Platinum game right? 1st the loot is just to add a little extra spice to the combat, but is never meant to be a crutch, or something you have to grind out to beat the game, 2nd yes when you play on easy and normal you are going to get horrible loot. Platinum games reward players willing to put in the time and master their games. If you play on commander difficulty you get much better loot, and when you jump into the 2 unlock-able difficulties that were never mentioned in the review you get S and SS rank gear. I feel a bit sour that the review ended on such a low and arbitrary note, especially since the rest of the review was going so well. I don't whine about reviews, but it is a bit misleading to a viewer when the review goes "Amazing game! Deep combat! Boss fights! G1 Transformers! oh and the textures are a little boring, loot system is unnecessary. 7.7 out of 10"

heres a refresher... you can use good loot to be synthesised by using crap loot to be even better loot!! like star saber level 1 that has good stats and you use that as primary weapon and select another weapon that you don't use anymore and it gains a level to be like level 5 (depends on the loot item) and that's a good way to make crap loot into great loot..i got a energon hammer just a while ago and i synthesis it with a few things and now it's level 15 and it is kicking major butt!!

Bullshit ass review. They probably don't know shit about Transformers and only played the story mode. If they knew a goddamn thing about Transformers, they'd know that the loot system is excellent. The game gives you weapons from just about every Transformers continuity that exists, from the movies, to Prime, to G1. I love the fact that you can use the Forge of Solus Prime and Megatron's shotgun from Dark of the Moon along with movie Optimus's energon blades and Animated Ultra Magnus's lightning hammer. That's where greatness comes from. The game is damn near perfect.

I'm my second play through on commander level. more types of weapons are available as well as the S ranked gear. The game is super fun. crafting is a pain in a butt a bit but I'm still enjoying trying to figure it out.

TIP: if u ever rent a movie, just go for the one that u want to see and checkout. more often than not, the redbox will give you a special rent 2 get either a movie or game for free. that's how i found this little gem and i love it. sometimes you just want to play a fun, arcade-y game without going on 50plus hour adventure. ya know? just wish it had multiplayer

I am riding that average gamer demographic and like most of them, we grew up with transformers. I grew up in Japan so we had excellent toys from it with real metallic parts. I don't care how good it is, these review sites expect way to much...they expect the game to be perfect on it's first attempt, I don't care what game we are talking about, there's very few games that are that good right out of the gate. Games take time to get good, the only thing that matters in the begging is do people like it, I mean when a developer tries doing something new or different or god forbid original everyone craps on it if it's not perfect. I mean look a Borderlands, the first one doesn't compare to the second game but it was cool, the street fighter game that put that franchise on the map was II, the first one wasn't even a fighter, it was a sides scroller. There's too many examples to think of but the point is clear, sometimes it's what the game represents or is trying to be, even if it's not there yet. I mean damn man some games take countless iterations before they even come close to being good.

Game's great. A refreshing reminder that Transformers were awesome before the disasters created by Michael Bay. The old school art style and atmosphere really appeal to me,though you should know the game's a bit short. Around 5 hours to be specific. Found it odd that not a lot of reviewers mention that.

I might have been spoiled with Warbof Cybertron, or even the entire franchise thats over 30 years old.... but what ruined me for even considering buying this is the primary attacking is combo melees. Seriously? They always used weapons other than fists, and they decided to try using, what Im going to call, killer instinct combos.... especially against the gestalts where you only need to attack the legs. Punches and kicks are the main weapons, but transforming and blasters are not even secondary? It looks very pretty amd nostalgic, but after watching the game play footage, im skipping this one. At least kudos for the original Prime voice

It could of used a bit more content, cause outside of the campaign that's only 4-5 hours, there's a pretty bland challenge mode. Other than that, it's a good game, but I'd recommend waiting for it to go down to either $30 or maybe $40.
