There is more than a 90 degree knee bend. It's tight but will go up further. I do mention this in my VS with Newage. 😊 thanks

Oh, and I didn't check on my copy but there are a few pics that show him having much more head tilt up range! I hear it might be pretty tight though. Thank goodness for nylon, so you can put a little more pressure on it! So yeah, i think there's much more head tilt up as well for sure, almost full knee bend! Thanks, Deluxe!!

Yeah I tried but I didn't get much. Plus it starts un tabbing the shoulders anyways. So not a ideal tilt up. Thanks for watching 😀 👀 🙂

Great review! I’m all in on NA, but I think MS did a good job here. In particular, I collect the NA EX/toy Dinobots. Not only did I obtain a few G1 Dinobots secondhand as a kid, I bought my son a few Toys “R” Us exclusive MP Grimlocks when he was younger. So, I have an affinity for the flashy, gold and chrome of the original toys.

DB I'm looking forward to the NewAge Sludge vs. Magic Square. MA has the bulk when it comes to the Alt mode which is really fitting for the Dinobots, in Bot mode it looks good but I agree with you with the transformation being a bit much particularly for this figure. The tolerances are better on this one but like you pointed out not perfect, still love it though. I believe Slag (triceratops) is the next one from MS. Personally I tend to flip my dinobots between bot and dino modes in my display.

Mine is on the way. Glad his tolerance is better than Grimlock bc that was my biggest issue with him. I have two sets, wasn't intentional. Didn't know Magic Square had their own Dinobots set also when I started my collection with NA. So NA in alt mode and MS in robot mode.

I totally agree that Magic Square's engineering leaves a lot to be desired. It's all flaps and parts on arms. It's forgivable, it's they are really small, but this is quite a big figure. The land-based Dinobots are all meant to be the same height, with Swoop being shorter.

To me, these shine the best in bot mode. Dinosaur mode is where the lack of paint and looseness of the joints makes the overall product suffer. Mine is enroute from showz but isn't here yet so I am looking forward to putting him next to botmode next to MS Grimlock.

yeah. Magic Square's engineering is not nescessary for a LEGENDS scale figure. Legends are supposed to be more fun to transform which i think Newage really captures. i still love the look of the M.S. toon appearance. but i just wish they were more fun. once i transform it once, i don't want to mess around with it again. but Newage i can just pick up any figure and have fun with it. that being said, you know i'm getting this. lol

Nice review, but im a New age biatch so i stick with them. They look more premium to me and so far i havent had a bad experience with them yet to change my view of them. Sure theyre more of a "Rolls Royce" of the Legends pricewise but if it means great paint i happily pay the asking price. Im going 2 versions of the Dinobots here, comic because they are so beatiful and has the right accessories that i care for (minus a crown for Grimlock, but ill manage). They will be in robot mode on my shelf because their paint will perfectly break up my dull plastic mess that is the rest of the members of that shelf level. Next set will be the toon style, i simply adore the way New Age Not-Slag looks to much to not get that one in cartoon colors, and it will look dumb with only him alone so ill get the rest too. Yes im gonna swear in the church, but ill also get the combiner set FOR THE TOON SET ONLY, because of saving shelf space and because i love how they made it in the short comic were the Dinobots merged into the Beast, not a fan of Vulcanicus though.

I think I'm out on the Dinobots from MS and will continue collecting NA's version. I had high hopes for MS, but the gaps and loose goosey limbs are unforgiving IMO. I'll wait for the A or EX versions.

@_AlexB_ MS charges us premium prices for subpar figures. My could be better spent elsewhere. Not too happy with MS 's business practices, especially since they are re-releasing the Combaticons in "toon" colors now. What did I spend all that money for the first time around for? Argh!!! 😠 😡 😤

@@RealClevelandBrown I thought the first version was toon version. What the hell, MS? I can't afford two versions. That just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. After the Dinobots, I think I'm done with Magic Square when it comes to first adopter. I don't trust them anymore. I will wait until all versions are released and minor issues fixed before I make a purchase. I'm going all in on NA, and MS will be an after thought from now on.

@peace4myheart I feel the same way. My only issue with NA is the size. Their G1 figures are a little too small for my liking. Either way, like you said, I will also hold off from buying the first batch of any set offering from MS. It's not worth it if MS is going to hold back specific character designs or give us subpar figures.
