Bobby Skullface L I agree. I always look at your reviews before a purchase of 3P figure. You have saved me a lot of money and impulse purchases. If there were only reviewers like peaugh I would not bother coming onto KZbin to check out 3P reviews

It will be interesting to see how the other 2 monsterbots pan out - they might be so good that they offset any shortcomings in this guy, and make all 3 worth having as a team. Pretty good showing from a new 3P with the Nemesis Prime and now this guy!

I had the G1 version of this guy and seeing the way he looks in Masterpiece scale brings back alot of old memories, I might get him since it does seem that FansHobby did a pretty good job.

I pulled the trigger on this. I loved my G1 ones. I do agree that it is a bit small. At least to match up with the Dinobots. I always looked at these guys as extra Dinobots.

Bobby Skullface L oh geez. I think it looks good but it had ways for it to be better. The red thighs should have had space around the crotch. To allow more movement in monster mode. They needed to hide the arms in monster mode better. I now just leave the robot mode arms out to give it four arms while in monster mode. It looks more insect like. Now I wish it had 2 guns for the hands to hold. Or I'll wait for those fire bit from the last one hide the hands and make them flamethrowers. The bot mode is meh. But it looks the part. I can't wait for the others to complete the set. I hope Fanshobby make Topspin and Twintwist since they made these obscure characters. The clones as well.

his robot mode reminds me of the guy who has acheived everything possible at the gymn and procedes to just start doing tricks with weights, not even knowing how much he is lifting. Throwing things around and screaming. Causing people to cancel their memberships.

I normally don't go for the G1 toy look on TF action figures but since I have the original Overlord G1 toy and that character is one of my favorite TF villains I bought FansHobby Double Evil. If these are built like Double Evil, they are good TF action figures that, as you said in your review, would benefit a lot from that Masterpiece paint finish. FansHobby look seems to be something in between G1 toys and the original cartoon, at least both Double Evil and the Monsterbots have that G1 Toy/cartton vibe to them. Great review! I really didn't have any interest in this character until I watched this video, the pictures I originally saw looked silly to me it kinda looked like a Ultra man reject monster, but with the comparissons you've showed me in this video its... its kinda cool, I mean the monster mode looks a lot better than the bot mode, but still cool!

Duuuude this is THE transformers they should have given the Chibi/Super Deformed giant monster head treatment, The old toy had that charm that makes you think he is always saying "Ma-Ma".

I agree with you on all counts. Those lips are crazy out of control and I agree that waist is way too skinny. However I might get this anyways because of the lack of paint and all, as this seems like a blank canvass to do some custom paint work on. Then I'll probably pass it to my son. I've been eye balling this as well, I'm glad you got to review this, it really helps.

Great review Skull Man and I think you nailed a lot of points. I personally like the look of this and I really like the simple not over engineered transformation. The problem is although I like the monster bots I don't have a huge attachment to them. Now I've bought bad figures simply because I loved the character and vise versa. If they had painted him I'd be ordering one right now. However like you im going to wait and see. When and if I ever find some extra money in definitely going to pick him up. Id say he's a B but with just a little work could of and should of been an A...

I only watched Headmasters about 4 months ago, and I can tell ya' for sure, the monster bots were barely in it. they go to the Battle Beasts planet, and pretty much tell the monster bots "stay here and guard these guys" we never see them again until some forest fire, where I don't even think Repugnus shows up. these guys just get screwed when it comes to fiction, 'tis sad.

I thought it was odd to tackle such a niche character so early on. I only know then from Marvel and they were hardly in that. I've not enough attachment to pick him up at this point. I like the look and sound of the engineering tho, that bodes well. Great job man, thanks.

I just can't get over the fact that in his alt mode, you can still see his folded up head staring at his crotch. Maybe if there was some sort of panel to make that area a bit more seamless I'd like it more.

Bobby Skullface L really? A bit surprised to hear that. I guess it's a fairly subjective thing. I don't know...it just looks unfinished like it's missing a flap to cover it up. And there is no compelling reason from looking at such a simple transformation that it would present an engineering challenge to hide it. It seems like an oversight to me as they did sound a bit apologetic about that on their website. If this was way early in the preproduction phase I can see that hiding the robot head in monster mode would be one of the first things they tackle in a revision

The 6 year old inside of me wants to call him "Mega-toot". And that amuses me, I must confess. I had a really brutal day, so please forgive me. But it made me feel a little better inside. The grown-up adult me doesn't care for the aesthetics of this 3P attempt at a Repugnus. Then again, the name Repugnus is kind of fitting in a bit of irony. It's an interesting design, but a pass for me. It seems like the things you point out in both likes and dislikes very often match how I feel about whatever you're reviewing. If you don't mind me asking, what video editing program are you using? I'm looking at some options.
