This is the most cohesive and non-cohesive film in the entire series. Here are my reasons: Reason it's cohesive: The film tells its own story. The film doesn't have any connective tissue from any other films in the franchise, minus a reference for the Battle Of Chicago. The story revolves around the created and its creators. The creators are essentially pissed off that both Autobots and Decepticons have literally made a mess in the universe, so, in order to right the wrongs, they hire Lockdown to bring back Optimus Prime. Lockdown has no allegiance to anyone, but, he honors his word and deals he makes. He teams up with Attinger, a government idiot who only believes in "Us or Them" Ideology, to capture Optimus Prime, by hunting down other Autobots in order to force them to give them his location. He was even willing to let Ratchet live if he just said where he was. The taskforce that was created, Cementary Wind, is used to hunt down Autobots, even though the government believes they're hunting only Decepticons. The other self-centered plot is KSI, an organization that is creating new Transformers from both dead Autobots 2 and Decepticons. The CEO and founder secretly made a deal with Cementary Wind. That's pretty self explanatory. Megatron, whose mind was downloaded in order to make the new transformers, was not really dead, as originally thought, so he intentionally fed KSI all the things needed to make transformers, then hacked and taken control of "Galvatron". He manipulated the CEO to teaming up with Cementary Wind in order to get the "Seed", a lifeblood of all transformers, used by the creators. All of these individual stories within the nearly 3 hour movie were told perfectly. There was essentially not a problem with editing, in my opinion anyway. Even the Yeager family storyline was told perfectly fine as well. They were dragged into this after the father bought a truck. Reasons it's non-cohesive: There is no mention of creators and creation in the three predecessors before this, minus the Allspark, which I'm not counting. The film doesn't explain what happened to Sam Witwicky, the Autobots in the film make it seem like he didn't matter to him. Hell, not even Bumblebee mentions him. I understand that everything cannot be put into a film, but there was virtually no explanation of what happened to Sam. They could've said he went into hiding or that he was killed by Cementary Wind shortly after the taskforce was created. There was no mention of him. And the other Autobots introduced out of nowhere didn't have any explanation of how they got to Earth or how they reacted to the whole betrayal.

Actually lockdown is a decepticon they showed it in this trailer. The part with him walking and that cybertronian ship behind him shows that he is a decepticon . The only reason why u think he is not a decepticon is because when that guy said this is wat they are made of and they should him transforming. Lockdown is a decepticon ,they just used that part as a deception just like in the amazing spider man 2 . They put the ending scene in 1 of their trailers and most people thought it would be the first battle scene when it was actually the ending scene. The part where optimus gets nocked to the wall, u can see his real face and it doesn't resemble the megatron from the other 3 movies. In the series his face rarely changes as much. He just gets a bigger crown. That decepitcons face is not even closely looking from the past galvatrons. Lockdown is known for having things like this.

The point is that the plot and dialogue needs to be interesting enough for me to wait god knows how long until the fun action kicks in. I can't speak for everyone but when I go see a movie like transformers I expect the focus to be on the robots not 2 hrs of dumbass comedy/romance with a total of 20 min robot on robot violence sprinkled here and there to justify ticket admission
